With the 11th pick in the 2011 TST Community Mock Draft, the Houston Texans represented by rickforking select: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Here is Rick's reasoning:
The Texans obviously need help on defense. Passing on Fairley and Bowers obviously isn't easy, but with Prince still available, the choice is fairly obvious(no pun intended). Pass defense last year was dead last in the league, and Peyton Manning is still on the schedule twice a year for the foreseeable future. Prince is a great athlete, has top end speed and size, and doesn't have to be hidden when playing a zone. He is also a very solid tackler. The Texans will be ecstatic to get him at 11.
This is a great pick for the Texans, who, like Rick said, have a horrible passing defense. I think given the fact that the defensive line prospects in this draft are pretty stacked, they can safely wait until round 2 or 3 until they make a move in that regard. One of the few knocks against Amukamara is that he didn't play as well without an elite pass rusher to help him (Suh), but with Mario WIlliams and Brian Cushing, he should be able to adjust quickly.
