What would you do?

You’re a GM at this year’s draft. Names are flying off the board ahead of your pick at #14. The closer it gets to your turn to make a pick, the ideas of what’s possible start swirling around in your head. Players that have been tabbed by Mock-Draft-nicks as the best at their respective positions are still on the board at 6, 7, 8, 9… You see Marcell Dareus is still there at 9, but you know he won’t last to #14. You don’t have the shot at WRs Green or Jones, so Defense is the path you must take. Dareus is considered by many the top defensive tackle talent in this draft and you need a great DT. What do you do? What price is too high? I’ve seen what has been written about what might be left to us at #14. Should we aspire to go higher if a player (who many consider one of the top five players in the entire draft) is within reach? Give me a trade package (draft picks or players) you would be willing to give up to move up 4 or 5 slots to select a gem.

Usually you'd have to give up a 3rd round pick to move up that high
and with as many holes as this team needs to address and as “deep” as this draft class is at defensive line, I wouldn’t move up at all. In fact, I’d be more willing to trade back to try to pick up an extra 3rd rounder ourselves…
I'd move
up to the cowboys and pick up Jones especially if they’re just asking for a first and 3rd. My feeling about it is I’d rather pick up a f 3-4 starters in a draft then a bunch of never could do its.
I don't think the Rams
can afford to move up if the price is a 3rd rounder. We have too many needs.
Yea I'd stay where I am
Not willing to give up anything for anyone this draft really. next year seems to have much more depth at the WR position so I’m willing to hold my breath for a bit and keep building gradually DT,OLB,CB,OG,RB all that good stuff and next year we can grab that top tier wideout who will take us to the next level of offense….or maybe even 2 wideouts hmmmm intresting huh.

Interesting point
I hadn’t thought of it that way. If not a strong Dt or DE pick that truly fits us, maybe trading the first round pick for lower pick this year and more picks in 2012?
What spawned my post was the lack of people envisioning a repositioning thru trade to do more than settle for whoever is available at #14. Maybe it isn’t wise to do, but the thought should enter the paradigm.
