With the 14th Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams Select...
Hello Rams fans.
I'm from the Texans blog, Battleredblog.
We are doing a mockdraft on the site. 32 people on there, including myself, have chosen all 32 teams, trying to predict the draft as best we can.
Now obviously, I don't know much about the Rams. I generally know what kind of personnel issues you guys have, but not in great depth.
I've read many mockdrafts, however I've not read past the 11th pick. I honestly consider that a good thing, because I don't have to see all the garbage that Mel Kiper Jr. writes. He still thinks Jimmy Clausen is the next great QB, so I do not care for his opinion anymore.
Compared to MKJ, you guys should know a lot more about the Rams than he does, given that you guys are true fans.
Our draft doesn't start until the 28th, so picks will go in day-by-day. My pick is due by the 13th of April.
I'd really appreciate it if y'all(I'm from Texas, sue me) would give me some insight on who else you guys would want besides Julio Jones.
Make sure to list multiple players, and prioritize them. For example, I'm not sure if you guys would want JJ Watt over Aldon Smith, or vice versa. And if you guys don't mind, tell me why the players that you've listed would improve your team.
Thanks for reading and hopefully helping me out.

Julio Jones if he's there
if he’s not then the best DE there.
But everyone is basically hoping for Jones to elevate our Air attack
Corey Liuget
JJ watt
Aldon Smith
Jordan (cant’ remember last name)
Ingram is also being throw around
Personally I'm not big on JJ Watt
probably better suited to 3-4 DE, and I’d rather not convert him to a DT after the Adam Carriker choice a few years back.
For guys that might be available at 14, my preference would be Julio Jones, Robert Quinn, Cameron Jordan, Aldon Smith, Corey Luiget and Ryan Kerrigan in that order. But if anyone apart from a QB falls from the top 10, I’d recommend you consider them.
I personally don't want Julio Jones at all
Some people here want him, and other don’t.
Personally, I just want a DT, OG, or CB with this pick.
I don’t want a DE at all because already have some project guys we drafted last year who flashed some potential, specifically George Selvie.
Selvie could honestly be a Robert Mathis type player.
They both aren’t as explosive as Freeney, but their acceleration and speed are dangerous around the edge.

Miraculous AJ Green falling? : )
Ideal: Everyone puts Jones above Green on their big boards and miraculously AJ Green falls to 14.
Semi-Ideal: One of the premier linemen or univeral bpa falls to the Rams. I’ve seen some mocks with us taking Nick Fairley. Huge Patrick Peterson fan and you can’t justify not taking him at 14, but that’s essentially impossible. Or Marcell Dareus?
Realistically: Our DT need is greater than our DE need and Corey Liuget is the best DT that will most likely be at 14. Stephen Paea might be a reach.
If we have to go DE: Cameron Jordan > Aldon Smith > Adrian Clayborn (character issues make this pick unlikely) > J.J. Watt
Anything past this would be a major reach in the first round.
Trading Down: Would most likely be to pick up a Guard Mike Pouncey. Possible spots are the Pats at 17? However, I feel like OG can be addressed in later rounds.
Unnecessary/Questionable Picks: Mark Ingram, Kyle Rudolph, Jon Baldwin, Akeem Ayers, Jimmy Smith
What character issues does Clayborn have?
He punched a cab driver because the guy called him the “n” word. That’s it. That’s the grand total. Please let’s get over saying Clayborn has character issues.
Andyhawk is right on this one
Clayborn was named team captain because of his “pillars” along with his talent.
Look a bit further before the “doesn’t fit the 4 pillars” label is thrown.
The options as I see them
1) Trade up for WR (Green, Jones)
2) Stay put and pick DE (Quinn, Bowers, A Smith, Kerrigan)
3) Trade down for DT/G (Liuget, Pouncey)
Ideally we would trade down if Jones isn't there....
….but I don’t think Ingram is good enough to take at #14.
So if we have to make that pick, then I would say:
1. Liuget
2. Pouncey
3. Amukamura if he falls
4. Smith
5. Cam Jordan
Basically, we oughta take a fat-nasty lineman to get tougher down low.
5.

i would put amukamura 1st
and smith 2nd
liuget 3rd
aldon smith 4th then pouncey
defense will be the first pick unless every one in front of us takes defense which will never happen

AJ GReen
PP
Prince
Dareus
Daquan
Quinn
Aldon Smith
Pouncey
Liueget
Julio Jones
In that order.
Just a BPA list of needs IMO. Ranked by top prospect down to least appealing.
Jones doesn’t look great to me, but i give up arguing with people about him, just hope he’s gone before 14 lol
Bradford to Onobun!
At the #14 spot
You would take Pouncey over both Liuget and Jones?
I feel like #14 isn’t high enough to warrant a guard pick and Liuget is most likely going to be the best DT left by our pick. I see that you don’t like Jones though so that makes sense, but not to a lot of people.
i really do believe we'll trade down
who would we select if we slid down to the 20s? I think thats a prime spot to select a dtackle. Paea? Luiget? Austin? Phil taylor?
Scratch my last post
Marvin Austin would be an EXCELLENT pick anywhere in the first. But can we really expect that with the 4 pillars in place?
If Julio is gone
DE Quinn
DE Smith
DT Luiget
if those guys arent there i expect the Rams to trade down for a guy like
G Watkins
T Taylor
T Austin
We should be looking at the best D-lineman left
or trade down and get one of the good OGs. A guard isn’t worth the 14th pick IMO.
New profile, name used to be Brandon Birkhead.
definitely Julio Jones if he is there!!
if not, I’d like to see us build on our defense, so either Aldon Smith, either Robert Quinn if one of both is still there. But normally that should be the case.
Go RAMS!!
