The St. Louis Rams, as expected, are working to bring back TE Daniel Fells.

According to a report from the National Football Post, the St. Louis Rams have tendered a first right of refusal offer to TE  Daniel Fells. The NFP report says the Rams are expected to work out a long term deal with Fells once the CBA gets settled. After talking to Rams GM Billy Devaney at the Combine this week, we reported that the Rams expected to re-sign Fells. "We'd like to have Daniel back," said Devaney when asked about the team's plans for the TE.

Fells will be in a much different role with the Rams next season after being named the starting TE out of training camp last year. Second-year TE Michael Hoomanawanui is expected to be the starter. Billy Bajema, the blocking specialist, is under contract for 2011. Bajema's roster spot could be most at risk if the Rams find a player who can contribute in that role as well as special teams and lined up in the backfield.

The wild card is Fendi Onobun. A former DI basketball player, Onobun, a sixth round pick, came to the Rams with just one year of college football experience. Nevertheless, he managed to get a few snaps with the offense and work on special teams before an injury ended his season. Expect McDaniels to get him involved in the offense this year as another player who can stretch the field.
