How the Rams can get Julio Jones

Stay connected for news and updates

After the Combine today, I don't think you have to make an argument for why we NEED to draft Julio Jones. What is really terrifying is that he plays hard, isn't a diva, looks to improve, and is the best physical specimen since Megatron, so he probably can't fall to the Rams. But even with the Combine I still think the Rams can get him. Most owners and GMs (not named Al Davis) tend to take the combine with a grain of salt, and won't overvalue what they saw. There are a couple wild cards for it to happen, but you never know.

1. Nobody can be stupid and draft Cam Newton too early. If the Bills take Newton at 3, then the Redskins take Jones. If Newton is still there at 10, then Shanahan's ego takes the troubled QB.

2. Robert Quinn has to remind people how good he is. If he underwhelms at the Combine, then he won't take up one of the top spots where Jones might be taken.

3. Someone has to make that weird "why did they do that move" pick. Last year was Tyson Alualu and someone in the top ten always reaches (how else do they get in the top ten). Look for Clayborn or Aldon Smith to be this pick.

Probably way too many variables for Jones to fall to the Rams, but we can always hope.
