2011 Rams Mock Draft

This is my first 2011 Rams Mock Draft. I have accounted for both need and skill. This is what I think will happen if Julio Jones is taken prior to the 14th pick.

Round 1

Trade down to the Chargers for their first round #18 pick and their third round #18 pick.
Mike Pouncey, G- Florida. The Rams need a OG to protect Bradford, and since Julio is Jones is gone this makes perfect sense. The Rams will not take Baldwin because they know he is prolly not a #1 and are not willing to risk it. They will simply wait for Justin Blackmon or Micheal Floyd next year. Other possible picks: Corey Luiget, Brandon Harris, Cameron Jordan.

Round 2

Leanord Hankerson, WR- Miami. Even though I think that any reciever after Julio is just another #2, Hankerson is a prize to have here. He has great hands, acceleration, and is a good route runnner. Other possible picks: Greg Little, DeMarco Murray.

Round 3, #14

Mason Foster, OLB- Washington. I would say that Bruce Carter will be gone by now so the Rams take Foster because they need a OLB in the draft and they dont want to wait any longer. He can stop the run, cover the pass, and has very good tackling ability. All the tools to compliment James Laurinaitis. Other possible picks: Bruce Carter

Round 3, #18

Jarvis Jenkins, DT- Clemson. Jarvis Jenkins brings us a run stopper that we would have wanted out of Corey Luiget. Not a great pass rusher but thats why we have Chris Long.

Round 4

Jaquizz Rodgers, RB- Oregon State. James Rodgers is a speedy guy who will be able to change the pace of the power running of Steven Jackson. Rodgers will also help in the return game. He runs with good low pad level has great agility. Other possible picks: Noel Devine, Derrick Locke

Round 5

Ricky Elmore, DE- Arizona. A solid pass rusher and should work well across from Chris Long. He had 11 sacks in 2010 and 10.5 in 2009. So he is a consistent reliable DE. Other possible picks: Chris Rucker

Round 6

Eric Hagg, S- Nebraska. Has good size, speed, and instincts to be a great safety in the NFL. For some reason he is underated. He is a big reason Nebraska was among the top 10 nationally in pass defense, scoring defense and total defense. Other possible picks: Davonte Shannon

Round 7

Mario Butler, CB- Georgia Tech. Not a great CB as of now, but it is a need and so why not try him out and see if he can turn into one. Other possible picks: Zac Etheridge

While this has nothing to do with my mock draft, and even though you can make mock drafts on this site I wanted to suggest and recommend you go to mockdrafthq.com. Its a pretty cool site just for creating and looking at other mock drafts. I have no idea who created it or small details but it is pretty cool to see and be apart of.
