Random Ramsdom 12/30: Happy New Year eve's eve!

First off, I want to wish you a Happy New Year! Maybe with the new year, new luck will be brought to the Rams, and no...not Andrew Luck. 2011 was a painful season for us Rams fans. First, we had to go through the lockout, which is now just an afterthought. After that, we all expected the Rams to be in the playoffs; to finally complete the turnaround and then it all blew up in our faces. Disappointment is the life of a Rams' fan recently. Here's to hoping 2012 will be the year the Rams start moving in the right direction again. On to the links.

Al Harris is retiring

According to stltoday.com, Al Harris has announced his retirement from the NFL. This is not shocking at all. He is 36 years old and just tore his ACL. What was shocking was how well he played this season. He plans to go into coaching now.

"That's what I'm going to come back to do is coach," he said. "I've got my mind made up on that. Professionally, I think I hit every single goal that I set out for myself, so now it's time to turn the page and set a new set of goals."

Best of luck Al.

Rams seek extension to avoid blackout

Also from stltoday.com, the Rams have been given a 24 hour extension to try and avoid a blackout. They have until noon today to sell out the game, but it's very unlikely that will happen. This would, shockingly, only be the first blackout of this season.

Injury Report

The mother site of SBNation had an injury update about Sam Bradford. In short, he won't play.

What should the Rams do if they get the first overall pick?

This will be covered extensively by us here at TST if the Rams do get the #1 pick, but USA Today had a nice piece about what the Rams should do. Most interesting was a poll in which 76% of voters said the Rams should just trade the pick. I though more would be inclined to take Luck and trade Sam.

That's all for today. Have a good one and GO COLTS!!! WIN SO WE CAN HAVE THE NUMBER ONE PICK!!!

Gotta agree about trading that pick

We get Andrew Luck and I don’t see how we’ve improved going into 2012. If we could somehow get a top 5 or 6 and a shit load of picks in the first two rounds, and I’ll take this paper bag off my head…

Happy New Year to you all too!

Thanks to Al Harris for his good play in a horrible season, and I wish him success in coaching. If his stint with us and the reviews of his off field impact are to believed, he will be a very good coach.

With regards to hoping we get the 1st overall pick. I absolutely despise that mentality. We play to win the game.
Accepting defeat regardless of the benefits is what is fundamentally wrong with this team. From the coaches, players and us the fans, we are all too content with losing and quite frankly, gimme a win over the 49ers any day over the 1st Overall pick. Let’s remove ourselves from the Colts’ fate and control our own and stomp the shit out of those fruit boys.

We have to change our mentality as fans, we have to want to win every game. We cannot expect the players to think that way and not do so ourselves.

Also, trading Bradford is the stupidest thing you could do. In addition, Luck holds more value, so should we get 1st Overall pick, trading the pick will put us in the best situation to have a quick and long term turnaround.

Getting the first overall pick is winning.

Gotta trade it

too many positions need help for us to draft Luck and expect that to turn things around. Maybe if Sam would shave about $50 mil off his salary….

hey I'm not saying should we get the 1st overall pick we shouldn't discuss it

I agree too, trade it and build around Sam, but this actual DESIRE for the 1st, people WANTING to be the worst team in the league, people ACCEPTING our futility is one of the greatest contributing factors to our suckdom.

Talk about it all you want, but never ever should you want to be 1st Ovr pick unless you stole it off an awful team in trade.

Off topic, but if you're a Sabres fan

I just want you to know that I’ll enjoy my Papa John’s order being 1/2 off tomorrow, because the Caps are going to punish the Sabres and score at least 4 goals in their win tonight. I’ll be there to witness first hand. Thanks Jim

Absolutely

kick the shit outta the 9ers. That would make my season. How sorry is that?

you can pick your butt.
But you can't pick your friends butt.

What should the Rams do if they get the first overall pick?

They should IMO, trade down for additional high round picks for 2012 and 2013. Also; along with that trade compensation, The Rams should get a promising NFL player or two from that teams roster that is seeking to trade up.

Dan Orlovsky's (Colts QB) wife just had triplets this week

So he may be a little distracted for the game against Jacksonville. He came back to practice yesterday.

Glad Al Harris still had a little left in the tank for us.

He had a big tank when he played for Green Bay.
