McCants did not play organized football until he was a senior in high school. He was a member of the marching band as a tuba player when a HS coach took a look and decided that he might have more potential as a football player than as a musician. McCants credits his great footwork to the time he spent in the marching band. When watching McCants play ; he looks more like a power forward than OT. His athleticism is excellent. When UAB played against Southern Miss; McCants demonstrated that athleticism when pulling and getting to the next level. There is no doubt about the rawness of technique; but there is also no denying the talent. He bends at the waist at times and can be caught upright; but his long arms and big hands allow him to shield the QB's blind side effectively. McCants has a lot of tools to work with. My guess is he will be selected in rounds 5-7. This Conference USA first teamer could be a great bargain selection.
