Rams Inactives Include Cadillac Williams, Danario Alexander; Nick Miller Will Handle Punt Returns

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - SEPTEMBER 19: Brandon Jacobs #27 of the New York Giants runs the ball against Ben Leber #59 of the St. Louis Rams at MetLife Stadium on September 19, 2011 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)

The St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals have announced their inactives for today's game. Mostly, the lists are filled with the walking wounded. Everyone on the Rams' inactive list, except for Ben Leber, was out or limited in practice this week.

The Rams inactives are: T Mark LeVoir, G Bryan Mattison, WR Danario Alexander, RB Cadillac Williams, LB Josh Hull, LB Ben Leber, DT Justin Bannan.

Again, no surprises, not even Leber who was supposed to address the Rams' needs at outside linebacker, bringing experience and a capable skill set when signed to a one-year free agent deal. Only the one-year part of the Leber decision looks good in hindsight. Not exactly another feather in Billy Devaney's cap for free agent moves.

The most concerning absence is DT Justin Bannan. The Rams run defense has improved greatly since being embarrassed by the Dallas Cowboys. The big bodied Bannan creates a traffic problem in the middle for opposing runners. Gary Gibson will start in his place.

Nick Miller will handle punt return duties, taking over for Austin Pettis, whew.

The offensive line will look like, from left to right: Adam Goldberg, Jacob Bell, Tony Wragge, Jason Brown and Harvey Dahl

At corner, Rod Hood will be the third man, nickel corner, and Josh Gordy and Justin King will start. Gordy has been a pleasant surprise for the Rams this season, and the coaching staff deserves a little credit for using King according to his abilities and limitations.

The Cardinals inactives are: QB Kevin Kolb, WR Stephen Williams, FS Kerry Rhodes, FB Reagan Maui'a, LB Joey Porter, T D'Anthony Batiste, TE Rob Housler.

I'd love Blackmon (best college receiver ever IMO)

But I want KALIL more

yea i want kalil

cause we gotta protect bradford first before we go crazy over pass catchers. hate that dx cant stay healthy tho. he was playin really well but omg 5 weeks over a freakin hammy!?!

by Ram_Redemption on Nov 27, 2011 11:17 AM CST up reply actions

And he was feast or famine when he was healthy

We shoulda kept Robinson apparently. That’s a real suprise

Yea hind sight is 20/20 but i still regret

Not keeping Avery and cutting dx. He will have a good game and then be out the next 3-4 weeks. Blackmon or Kalil are my picks in the first, wish Floyd would drop to the 2nd..

I'm still not sold on Floyd

I don’t see what makes him so great, but if he’s as good as everyone thinks, then id love having him and KALIL. I just worry bout his off the field stuff

i think he was just a dumb college kid

dude can ball tho and his qb his TRASH. he runs a pro style offense too so his route tree is decent

I don't see what his thing is?

Is he just big? Fast? Strong? What is it that makes him good?

alot of people compare him to fitz

big bodied WR at 6’3 who can go up and get the ball. physical guy too

by Ram_Redemption on Nov 27, 2011 11:29 AM CST up reply actions

still keep dx for depth b/c of that big play ablility

but dnt rely on em week and and out. kalil is a must IMO so floyd in the second would be good. lamichael james or ryan broyles too cause we need some dam speed on offense.

Kalil, Floyd, Travis Lewis, Lamichael James,

Cause its probably unrealistic

KALIL at #2, not that odd. Chances Floyd is there at 34? Not so hard with his off field stuff and how Ntr Dame has done nothing this year. Lewis in the 3rd? Little bit of stretch, relies on his diva qualities scaring away some along withh the toe injury (which isn’t a problem) scaring some off. Lamichael in 4th? Only chance is cause Al Davis ain’t around to take him in the 1st

You mind if I make a mock with these picks

And ill give you credit?

Go ahead

It seems like a long shot to me, but it covers alot of holes

I think its somewhat realistic

Kalil at two is a given, Floyd dropping to the second is a bit of a long shot but not impossible. Travis is dropping in some mocks to the third and many around here think so and although James is a beast I don’t see him going in the first couple of rounds.

i agree RG

king sam ur draft is possible.. with alshon dropping it may push floyd back into the 2nd

Each pick on it's own? Not that odd

All of them happening together? Hard to imagine

only because our team is retarded at drafting

but i think floyd may drop to the 2nd and lamichael should be there in the 4th. u should be in the war room come april dude.

I was gonna apply for GM

What are the requirements to have that job? I could just walk in there, say “I plan to draft good players and hire a smart coach” and Kroenke would say “that’s revolutionary! Devaney just threw darts at a board!”

Since his deficiency is "the ability to play football"

Starting king is not “putting him in a gold position”. Gordy is good. I would say, that assuming either Bartell or Fletcher are good to go next year (but not both, we aren’t that lucky) then we have Gordy and Murphy and a rookie we draft as the rest of our main corners (not necesaraly in that order)

Last week I said I hope that the Rams offense looks good.

All I need this week is the team to be OK enough so that
1. I don’t feel absolutely depressed after the game.
2. We aren’t totally embarrassed.
