St. Louis Rams Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo Press Conference, Week 11
Keeping with tradition, St. Louis Rams Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo delivers his customary day-after press conference today. Also keeping with tradition, the Rams are coming off yet another embarrassing loss to another team that they should have beaten. And what to expect in this week's edition?
Injury updates come first in these things, and the Rams have had plenty of injuries to report. Spags should have more information about the head injury suffered by Lance Kendricks, who is quickly becoming as injury riddled as the Rams other tight end, Michael Hoomanawanui. There's also the status of backup offensive tackle Mark LeVoir, who left yesterday's game after making his starting debut in place of Rodger Saffold. Austin Pettis suffered a knee injury, which is surprising since he usually looks like he'll be killed when returning punts. Cornerback Marquis Johnson is also dealing with an injury, as is customary of any Rams cornerback.
Then, of course, Spagnuolo will answer a few questions, talk about the importance of sticking to the same plans that have gotten the Rams to 2-8 this season and wrap it all up after about ten minutes.
Tune in, turn on and prepare to be enlightened. The fun starts at 2 p.m. Central.

Sicking to the same plans?
Really? No wonder why we are 2-8. When you are struggling you need to change things up. As much as I like Spags as a person he needs to go, so does McDaniels.
Spags yes,
but McDaniels hasn’t had a chance to run an offense with players that resemble anything close to a professional athlete – with a normal training camp or otherwise. And we already knew it’d be a rough start given the complexity, even before the injuries took us down to practice squad fodder.
Neither goes.
I wouldn’t mind BillyD getting the axe though.

a question was asked of me yesterday
“how is he still the coach?”
Beating off the dog is never appropriate when we have company over...... I mean EVER!
I stated before the season
that McDaniels has proven that his Playcalling was masked by the excellence of the talent at his disposal in New England.
I also said that we’d need a QB coach, for more than the simple reason that Sam needs direct coaching.
I do also remember this ex Broncos fan mention that it is likely Sam will struggle with the offense initially, and will improve after an off-season and a rapport is established.
Benching Sam, firing McD and/or Spags will only make things worse for Sam and ruin his potential. He showed that he is doing better feeling the rush, identifying blitzers etc. Now he must audible more out of McDs terrible playcalls and make progressions if the 1st WR is not open.
McD needs to simplify the playcalling substantially, which is something I’ve been saying for a very long time.
Bernie Miklasz made some excellent points in his article today, and what is surprising was how we went from being a very play action centric offense to this awful attempt at a spread. Ironic that the touchdown to Lloyd was off of Play Action right? It’s also confusing that I hardly remember seeing play action after it.
Someone needs to get in McDs ear and tell him he needs to fix up. He, alongside injuries, is the sole reason we should fear for Sam Bradford’s development. If you’re an offensive genius you work with what you’ve got. You also don’t have a successful and winning gameplan for a less talented QB and then when the more talented QB returns abandon it.
What I’m trying to say here, is that Spags is not the fault of the Rams’ bad season. You can say that Billy D most certainly is responsible for a lot of the problems, such as the lack of a QB coach, the awful losses of two drafted rookies through idiotic roster management, etc.
Firing Spags will only mean a complete revamp, meaning Sam Bradford and the improving defense will regress frther and put us into the 2nd rebuilding phase in 3 years. You do not rebuild when you have a QB, especially one like Sam.
Let Sam grow in the offense, give him some weapons, and get him a QB coach.
Keep Spags, keep McD, do whatever with Billy D. He has done a solid job in terms of acquiring talent, as our off season on paper was excellent. The questionable draft picks he made were due to pressure from McDaniels. The other stuff is all Billy D’s fault.
We need to clean house at a positional coaching level however. There is no way that our WR and O line coach can survive this offseason. There is far too much unutilised talent at these crucial positions to allow them to remain on the Rams coaching staff.
