OK all this trading Bradford bullshit needs to stop!

If by chance the Rams suck so bad this year and we wind up with the number one pick, the last thing we should do is draft another quarterback. Drafting Sam Bradford was one of the best draft picks the Rams have made in the last 15 years.

Remember in 1997 the Oakland Raiders made a trade to move up to the second pick in the draft to set themselves up to take Orlando Pace. A couple of days later we made the trade with the Jets to have the number one pick and ultimately took Pace number one overall? this is what happens when a highly coveted player comes out. Andrew Luck is one of the most talented quarterbacks to come out since Peyton Manning. There is a boatload of teams who need a quartback that are salivating to have a shot at him.

Sam Bradford is a franchise quarterback and this team has historically struggled to keep one of those. Remember the Rams  succeeded in turning Jim Everett into a female tennis player. we turned possible hall of famer Kurt Warner into an injured castoff and somewhere former Pro bowler Marc Bulger has Queensryche's song "I'm Gonna Get Close To You" playing over and over in his head. The demise of all three of those quarterbacks was poor offensive line play that damaged their phsyces.

the best thing for the Rams to do is trade their pick and move down to add a dominant pass blocking tackle, a number one receiver, a road grading guard and an explosive running back to eventually replace Steven Jackson. Dont trade Bradford and have us start over again, surround him with talent and lets get to work!

After 1 and less the a half

i said "one of the best draftpicks"

I would be a fool to think that. Jackson, Atogwe, Laurinaitus, Pace, Holt, Leonard Little and maybe Robert Quinn have to all be in the discussion.

I'm suffering from an extreme case of laurinaitis!

by NachoD on Oct 30, 2011 3:25 PM CDT up reply actions

I would like nothing better

than to see Sam Bradford flourish for the rest of his career as a Ram.
And you’re right, the best case scenario would be to somehow accumulate as many picks as possible. Not only in this years draft, but maybe even a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for next year.
The problem with this is all the “Ifs” that come into play.
Ryan made an excellent point in his recent post about a new regime stepping in and possibly wanting Luck over Bradford. I personally don’t like the idea. But it could happen.
So, IF we get a new brain trust, I would hope they have the sense to keep Sam and surround him with talent.
And, no matter how that pans out, we have these other delusions of grandeur to deal with.
No matter who is in charge, we have to hope they have the savvy to pull off a deal thats going to give us the players we need to be successful.
Right now, I believe Jason Smith is a major issue as far as putting this team on the road to recovery. Because of the money we’ve invested in him. And also due to the fact he was picked by the reining regime. It’s going to be difficult to replace him. IF Devaney and Spags remain as our so called leaders, they would have to come to the realization that this guy should be used as trade bait or at least restructure his contract so we can sit his ass on the bench and use him if needed.

Idgaf as long as somebody wins us se games

But it shows u how retarded our team is. Y pay sam bradford tht huge deal to b our guy if u werent confident. Sam not havin weapons is his own fault tho. Greedy contract took all the salary

by Ram_Redemption on Oct 29, 2011 8:29 AM CDT via mobile reply actions

^ I'm with you. I want to win games too.

However if he restructures his contract so we can get more players, all the better.

Is that great man formally known as Tevin T. Broner, also I'm on twitter T_bron

Never did the FO say they werent confident in him

So I’m talking it you are joking?

ur comment proved my point so idk if u were agreeing or bein an ass

But yes the cards put crazy money into fitz while uis supporting cast on offense are NOBODIES.. Which jus like sam and the rams … He is the only player on that offense worth a dam.. So yes jus like fitz. Thanks

by Ram_Redemption on Oct 30, 2011 8:28 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions

Btw

I love bradford as much as anyone but larry EARNED his contract. Bradford got paid like a fat king wen he “didnt even take an nfl snap”.. Isnt tht wat we all argue about luck? If bradfprd had a cam newton (rookie qb type salary) then we coulda used that money to go apeshit in the lockout this year . Instead, we tried to put a team together on scraps. That is my point

by Ram_Redemption on Oct 30, 2011 8:34 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions

I do agree with you on the salary

We got hosed on that becuse of the salary structure in place at the time. The last 3 or so drafts have us with a lot of salary tied to only a few players. That is a detriment to any team that needs to restock just about everywhere.

by LARams1968 on Oct 30, 2011 11:39 AM CDT up reply actions

Also speaks volumes of what the Rams

Though of Bradford, they could have picked Suh then waited a year knowing the salary scale was going to be put in place but they drafted Bradford anyways, for this reason alone I don’t think they’ll get rid of him..

I was talking about Ryan Fitzpatrick

and pointing out that the big contract doesn’t necessarily mean that we can’t find weapons for Sam. It doesn’t help but it is still not impossible. It was sarcastic in nature so take it how you want to.

by LARams1968 on Oct 30, 2011 11:31 AM CDT up reply actions

We took one of the best OT's in the draft

& many of us thought it was a good pick. On paper & film Smith looked impressive. By him not panning out it has cost us plenty, now we have to draft someone to replace him. I don’t have confidence our FO/CS would make the right calls for the draft. They have a terrible track record with their selections and obviously can’t evaluate talent and team needs and draft accordingly. Most of their decisions baffle the hell out of me; still reeling from the Jabara release!

by RamsFan1979 on Oct 29, 2011 9:18 AM CDT reply actions

You are correct

Jason Smith was the best option at the time. Worst yet, if you look back 1 year earlier we were in the running for Jake Long only to have to settle for Chris Long with the 2nd overall. I don’t believe either Jason or Chris were so called BAD picks at the time. It was just what was available and they were the best available.
But 3 and 4 years have now past. And as luck would have it the new rookie contracts has been restructured and low and behold,,,Jason Smith is not worth 33M.
So, what are we going to do about it?
My guess is, if our so called brain trust has any say in the matter… absolutely nothing.
Oh they may try to do some lack luster patch work here and there. But if we’re going to get out from under this burden I believe we’re going to have to trade him or restructure his contract.

by ZamRam on Oct 29, 2011 10:33 AM CDT up reply actions

The line coach!

That is who needs to be replaced. He is not doing his job.

by ThomasZ on Oct 29, 2011 10:32 AM CDT reply actions

Excuse me

I’m don’t disagree with that at all. But have you watched Smith play. Not only can he not cut it as the LT he was drafted for . But the only true consistency he’s shown is the ability to get hurt.
Stop the madness.

by ZamRam on Oct 29, 2011 10:37 AM CDT up reply actions

I agree and honestly I'm getting tired of the whole discussion

For the simple fact you don’t get rid of a 2nd year QB for a prospect who has as high of a bust rate that Luck has even before he comes out of college. If Luck does bust I’m going to come back and laugh at everybody that dogged on Bradford, but no he won’t be traded, nor will we have the 1st pick in the draft so it won’t matter,
1. Miami
2. Colts
3. Rams

Luck is the best in thr draft

And has a lot more potential than weedan, I think luck is a major bust rate on him because of all the hype though.

How good would the Cowboys be if Bradford was their QB?

How about the Colts? Or Ravens? He is an instant upgrade to so many teams, but that doesn’t mean you get rid of him, or even consider it for a second. Yeah he cost us a lot of money, but them’s the brakes of life sometimes. Who is the idiot that got this turd ball rolling?

by RamsFan1979 on Oct 29, 2011 3:28 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

Rec'd

The money issue is nonsense. When Bradfords contract is up we will have to pay an even bigger contract. Will people suggest we dump him then to get a cheaper rookie in then?

Cowboys would be SB contenders

And so would the Colts and Ravens..

**** that!!

i would rather dive off the empire state building, and catch one of my eyelids on a freakin nail on the way down, than see sam go to the freakin cryboys!! i would just quit watching football altogether if that ever happened! f**k the cryboys!

We may or may not
wind up with the number one pick

but this

the Rams suck so bad this year

has already been determined.

by LARams1968 on Oct 29, 2011 5:58 PM CDT reply actions

i was leaning towards sam of course but

i want to get rid of our coachs and fo and most players so it might be better to start the rebuild with a fresh qb who doesnt know what its like to be beaten every game but opposing d’s , i love sam and i think if he had a decent oline he would be great but am scared this team might have scarred him. he did seem shaken his last couple games and now all the injuries. either way thou as long as spags and billy are gone any QB will do

Rams Bulls and Mets allllllllll day also i do love white castle

by G unit Rams on Oct 30, 2011 10:10 AM CDT reply actions

I don't think he's scarred yet.

He has a lot of determination when he plays. He just doesn’t look like a beaten QB but we do need to find him some help.
Plus this rest, from the sprain, he’s getting might be good for him. He now has time to think about what is going on. He’s watching the protection that Feeley has that is better than the ones he had. What I’m trying to say is that he now is getting some time to absorb the offense.

by LARams1968 on Oct 30, 2011 11:36 AM CDT up reply actions

i think we should stick to this short passing o

as much as i hated it last year it seems its the only thing we can do and salas and lloyd seem able to stretch these short passes.
