Steven Jackson Status Update: Jackson Ready To Go Today

The St. Louis Rams will have running back Steven Jackson back in the fold today. Jackson's return, with a heavier workload this week, comes as a huge relief for an offense needing a spark. The Rams will look to Jackson to back off Washington defensive coordinator and former Rams' interim coach Jim Haslett's blitz.

Jackson strained his quad on his first carry of the season, a touchdown run against the Eagles. He tried to stretch it out for the Rams' second game, and managed to get in a handful of carries last week. In that game, Jackson was limited to a power role, short yardage situations. The Rams never found themselves in many of those.

Jackson practiced all this week, and expects to carry a heavier load today. He might be looking to exact a little revenge. Last year, in the Rams win over the Redskins, Jackson got off to a great start, but he had to leave with a groin injury caused by Washington DE Kedric Golston, who tried to yank his leg off in the scrum.

Fantasy football fans should take note that Jackson will play today. Expect him to share some carries with Cadillac Williams. He may be more notable as a receiver, if he's truly a full go, with QB Sam Bradford looking to find him on check downs and other short, quick passes to back off the blitz.
