Mark Clayton Status: Rams WR Likely To Play This Week

Stay connected for news and updates

Other than the St. Louis Rams themselves, there might not have been a more pleasant surprise that wide receiver Mark Clayton last year. The Oklahoma alum forged an instant connection with his fellow Sooner, QB Sam Bradford. Clayton started this season on the PUP list, but resumed practicing with the team today. Now, the question on everyone's mind is whether or not he'll be active this week against Dallas.

The Rams have three weeks to make a decision on whether or not to put Clayton on the active roster. Right now, he does not count against the 53-man limit, but he could soon. While fans wonder about Sam Bradford's status this week, it sounds like Clayton's availability is much more certain.

With Clayton and the newly acquired Brandon Lloyd, the Rams might suddenly have a legitimate pair of wide receivers. Whether or not Clayton can pick up where he left off last season remains to be seen, but having Lloyd on the field should benefit him along with the rest of the team.

I hate to be overly optimistic, but I think the Rams have turned a corner on their season.
