St. Louis Rams wide receiver Mark Clayton is eligible to come off the PUP list this week. Clayton, along with fellow PUP listee CB Marquis Johnson, will begin practicing with the Rams this week. They may not be in action, however, for the Rams week 7 tilt with the Dallas Cowboys.
Head coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed that the team will make a decision on both players' availability after some practice time this week. Teams have three weeks to activate a player on the PUP list. If they do not get them on the active roster during that window, they become unavailable for the entire season.
Clayton would, obviously, like to play this week in Dallas, his hometown. Clayton is healthy, having recovered from a torn patellar tendon last year, but he has yet to have any exposure to Josh McDaniels' offensive system beyond the playbook and the film room. Other players on the team are still struggling with McDaniels' offense. That made Brandon Lloyd all the more attractive to a receiver-needy team like the Rams.
