What did Rams rookie OT Rodger Saffold have to say about the possibility of losing offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur?
It's a Wild Card Weekend. Will you be tuning in to watch the Seattle Seahawks embarrass the NFC West, validating all the talk that playoff teams should be re-seeded based on their records? Me too. First, let's jump in with a look at all the St. Louis Rams news that deserves a comment or two.
Rodger Saffold praises Pat Shurmur
Native to the Cleveland area, Rams rookie LT Rodger Saffold was asked on a trip home this week what he thought about the possibility of Pat Shurmur leaving. Saffold said that Shumur was a good fit, but he would like for him to stay with the Rams.
The Rams nominated C Jason Brown as the Walter Payton Man of the Year. All 32 NFL team nominate a player for the award that recognizes a player for his community service and on-field performance.
So the 49ers won the Jim Harbaugh sweepstakes, and another NFC West turnaround begins. He plans to install the West Coast Offense in SF...and has much more talent on hand to do so than the Rams did to start their turnaround.
I know 3k already posted a link to this, but you have to check it out...check it out and tell me you don't want Julio Jones as the Rams' first round pick this year. Whether or not Jones is available when the Rams pick at #14 remains to be seen; there's lots of offseason hype time between now and then.
Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith got a second round grade from the advisory committee, but looks to be the kind of guy whose draft stock will skyrocket as he establishes himself with a solid series of offseason workouts, including assurances that he's strong enough to be a three-down end in the 4-3 defense.
TheSmart1 makes the case for the Rams to target Vikings WR Sidney Rice in free agency this year. It's hard to see Minnesota letting him go, but who knows with that franchise.
