Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Fully Equipped With a Possible Explanation

Although I think the story has come and gone, I never really shared my opinion on why the former equipment manager (Hewitt?)  was fired. I was going to let it rest until I read Van mention an insightful tidbit about Chris Long working witha new strength coach.

Inside the NFL on Showtime had King Sam mic'ed up sometime in the 3rd to 5th week. Pardon me because I can't remember the specific game. It was one that we won, though, because I thought King Sam did an amazing job of staying positive and being a supportive teammate.

That being said, before the game, they had King Sam on his mic mentioning over and over again that his speaker in his helmet wasn't working.  ITNFL even made a joke about it because they had King Sam saying it over and over again.

After watching that particular episode, I remember keeping a close eye on King Sam and how he handled, audibles, short play clocks, and many other unforeseen gaffes that QBs have had to deal with.  Of course, King Sam did surprisingly well during his rookie season and we, as fans, couldn't be happier with his progress. I did, however, notice King Sam CONSTANTLY having problems with his head set especially during those small breaks on network TV where they briefly show a QB going back to the sidelines after the team has to call a timeout.

Remember, this is just a guess, but, what if the helmet was constantly fucking up all the time during the season?  What if it cost us, let's say to be fair, 10 plays that could have been crucial to the outcome of games?  How many games did we lose this year by an ass hair?

The point I am making is this:  Clifton Ryan fumbled the TD in Week 1. Understood. The Seattle game in Week 17 was a coaching nightmare.  Understood. Those were what they were.  But if King Sam constantly had trouble with his QB Helmet and Headset, who does that fall on?  How many times behind the scenes did Spags tell Hewitt? to fix it?  I don't know the answers.  I just know that the headset could have been a real issue that kept coming up and coming up and eventually broke Spag's nerves.  Just a thought.  Perhaps I write this because it might seem the only thing that would make sense to me.  I will let this go now.  Good day.

Interesting

Are there any links to the videos you mentioned? I could certainly understand if my boss asked me to fix a problem multiple times and became a little “ornery”. Someone like Spags probably asks the question “Why didn’t we get the play off? Didn’t you get the play?” And Bradford responds “It was static so I ended up calling a play at the line”.

if thats the case

If thats true, is good Hewitt got fired doesnt matter how long you been working there if your boss tells you to do something about it just fix it, plus if thats the case and we lost a game cause of that helmet problem Spags must off went nuts after all 1 single game would off made a big diff. this year

Big-Time Bradford

Then again, he actually hasn’t earned that name yet.

I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.
