AmpLified Gameballs and Lameballs vs SEA

Let's get this out of the way:  The Rams, comparitively, had a great year to 2009.

Let's this out of the way, as well:  The Rams underachieved in all aspects of 2010.

Instead of GBs and LBs, let's take a look at our future by analyzing the starters.

COACHING

You got %1000 out of the team's heart and effort.  And even substantially lacking in many areas, you got %75 out of their actual talents.  Tight-ass-ness will not be tolerated next year.  Change it up or you will all be fired.

OFFENSE

King Sam QB:  You will be the future King of StL.  I don't care what anybody says but you hit the Rookie Wall so hard you left cracks in the foundation.  It's okay.  We are all excited for the years ahead.

Steven Jackson RB:  You need help by having a change of pace back and a system that doesn't wreak of scared vag.

Jason Brown C:  You performed under your own reputation this year.  Get it back next year because it was kind of disappointing, really.

Jacob Bell LG:   I don't care if you are 216, 257, or 310 pounds. You can't block anybody at all.  You need to be traded.  Big whiff on your signing.

Adam Goldberg RG:   Would love to have you back as a back up for a game or two.  You were severely outmatched as a starter.  You sucked the life out of the interior run game.

Jason Smith RT:  At your draft interview, you were famously quoted as saying, "I'm a MAN."  Well, you kind of been playing like a talented kid.  Even a scared kid from time to time.  Walk the walk next year.

Roger Saffold LT:  Besides having WAY to many offsides, you were THE most pleasant suprise of the year and the future OL.

Laurent Robinson WR :  Get the fuck out of here.  Now.

Brondon Gibson WR:  You are going to have a tough road ahead to stick next year.  Very tough.

Danny Amendola WR:  Never thought you'd be double teamed, huh?  Next year you better damn well not be or jobs will be lost.

Mike Karney FB:  Is there a definition for "less than worthless" in the dictionary?  There isn't?  Well now there is: Mike Karney.  You and Steven can still be best friends.  Not teammates.

Uh-Oh TE:  I hope Uh-Oh doesn't end up standing for "Uh-Oh!  I hurteed somehin' again!"  Still a good find and possible TE for years ahead.

DEFENSE

Chris Long DE:  You were absolutely worth the #2 overall.  Glad to have you.  Keep improving.

James Hall DE:  Absolutely awesome year. Pro Bowl Caliber.  Can't wait to see you again in 2011.

Fred Robbins DT:  Ditto.

Gary Gibson DT:  Solid roation guy for future.  Nothing more.

David Vobora:  Mr. Irrelevant likes his name so much that that is who he becomes when he plays OLB.  Goodbye.

Nai'il Diggs:  Hurt and old...and gone.

Animal Jr. ILB:  The Young General.

Bradley Fletcher CB:  Going to be a good one.  Needs some work but a starter already.

Ron Bartell CB:  Wouldn't it be neat to transition him to safety and get a true #1?

Craig Dahl SS:  Great backup but not a starter.  Needs lots of help with coverage and hands.

OJ Togs FS:  Can be a force or disappear for long stretches.  Bettter than everyone esle on the roster, but still..

Reserve Prognosis coming soon.......

I'll 2nd the LR

I also thought that Chamberlain, Grant, et al. could use the same message as well. There were stretches of game yesterday where I saw Animal Jr. cut into their gap because the Will and Sam missed their gap or were already washed out of a play.

LOL AT LR!

I like this coaching staff. I agree, Spags only big flaw is his conservative offensive approach. He absolutely NEEDS to give free reign to Shurmur next year because I will be PISSED if he gets fired.

Mike Karney

I know Jackson was happy as a pig in shee-it when we signed Karney but does having a fullback really have it’s advantages for him? It seems like when he gets the ball, he spends more time trying to navigate his way through the offensive line before he gets hit by the defense. It seems like having Karney in front of him only muddles things worse. I don’t know, is it just me?

I'm suffering from an extreme case of laurinaitis!

All White Uniforms?

Does anyone know the Rams record when we wear all white uniforms? I saw that during pregame and got an uneasy feeling. Whats wrong with the Blue or Gold.

I think you're a little harsh on some guys.

The coaches were very conservative this year, and did an awful job of managing a second-half lead, but they definitely got the most out of their players talent-wise. Our coaching staff is still relatively inexperienced. I’m confident going forward that Spags has learned from his mistakes this year, as has Pat Shurmur.

Jason Smith was an absolute beast in the run-blocking department this year. He’s the opposite of Saffold, who struggles in run blocking but is a great pass blocker. I’m really glad to have these two guys anchoring the offensive line. Brown disappointed a little this year, but a lot of the interior issues on the line came from the guards, mainly Goldberg. Bell is a good guard, the only real need on the line is a guy to replace Goldberg.

Also, his name is Mike Karney. The coaches don’t seem to high on him, although Steven Jackson says that Karney is a fine player. I wish the coaches would listen to Steven. And I wish Shurmur would stop running the ball with Karney. Fullbacks were never meant to take handoffs. It never, ever works.

Amendola is fine. One rough game at the end of the year doesn’t change anything. He’s a good returner on punts and kickoffs, and he’s a really good slot receiver. The only reason he’s getting double-teamed is because he was made the primary target after unfortunate injuries to our top two receivers.

Also, your analysis of Atogwe is very incorrect. Just because he’s not forcing turnovers doesn’t mean he isn’t producing. His coverage this year was excellent, and he returned to his ball-hawking ways of the past with 5 turnovers and 9 passes defended.

Bartell is a really good player. His coverage this year was incredible. There’s a reason nobody is throwing his direction.

Craig Dahl has some shortcomings in coverage, but he looked a lot better toward the end of the year.

Overall, the only positions of need are for both OLB spots, OG, and WR. We also need a new DE and DT for the future because Robbins and Hall won’t be around forever.

Well said.

Plus just some minor needs like a Darren Sproles to give SJ a breather and not lose production. A couple of cornerbacks for depth. That is, of course, unless you want to see Dockery back =O

Mike Karney was a huge oversight on me

I am sorry. That was lacksidasical on me. My comment on Danny A. was PRO Danny A. I like Coach Spags alot. That doesn’t take away the fact that he made way too many mistakes in puttting his team in a position to succeed against teams they should have beaten. Bell is not a good guard. I wholeheartedly disagree. Jason Smith wasn’t a beast. He has had good moments but he is inconsistent and penalty prone. I believe in him but I think he would tell you himself that he had a so-so year. Bartell is very good. Just not a Number 1. I just think he would be a killer safety. Gut Feeling. Your arguements have merit. I just respectfully disagree. But that’s the fun of this chat.

I don't get the hate for Karney
John Karney FB: Is there a definition for “less than worthless” in the dictionary? There isn’t? Well now there is: John Karney. You and Steven can still be best friends. Not teammates.

Even though he only had 11 rushes, Karney being back helped Steven rush for more yards… What you expect a fullback to rack up stats or something?

ALSO, it’s MIKE!

I didn't even catch that lol.

Isn’t John Karney the ex-Saints kicker?

Once again..

Sorry. I have no clue who John Karney is. Just like driving, I guess one shouldn’t post while livid.

Wow!!! I wish I could laugh

I’m still so pissed at the coaches I cant really tear up the players yet. I wish I could laugh off your evaluations but unfortunately you are not totally wrong. You could tell the difference in our D once Diggs got hurt. I would like him back next year as a rotational player. If we knew how to run the ball maybe Karney could do his job rather than running into the backs of his own lineman cuz they can’t get a push. And Gibson just needs a true #1 WR to become a solid #2 or #3 option. I hope I’m wrong but Avery is done and Clayton and DX are big question marks. How about running Amendola on any pother pattern other than a crossing or option over the middle. Lets keep building those lines cuz it looked ugly in the trenches. How come every other team uses the wildcat and we havn’t tried it once, ever. And how about using a sixth olineman in run situations. Give Belichick this years Rams roster and we go 11-5 easy.

fantastic assesment.

we definitely need to start calling more attacking plays, instead of being so fucking conservative all the time. but i do love Spags, regardless, he has done a tremendous amount in the time hes been given so far, but i sure hope shurmur grows some stugots and calls the offense better next year. maybe with more weapons he will

there is no theory of evolution. just a list of animals David Backes has allowed to survive.

remember it's only year 2.

Coaches & FO had to blow up the roster in year 1 of failed FA’s & draft choices; yr. 2 with few impact FA’s available they took the team to 7-9 only a couple of dropped passes from 9-7.
Upgrades at OG & OLB should be available in draft. WR is the big ? (obvious from last game) will depend on what happens with CBA. Rams best chance at WR is with big name FA at WR; I don’t see a #1 WR falling to #14.
