Hello Rams Fans!
As most of you know by now, the internet is all a-Twitter (terrible joke) with news Josh McDaniels' hiring as the Rams new OC. I'm already looking forward to the creative influx. That being said, and as an understatement of the year, we still need a bit of a talent influx on the offensive playmaker side of the ball (don't worry, I won't mention Torrey Smith again). What do you think the extent of the McDaniels effect will be?
McDaniels is known for turning decent wide receivers into productive members of the offense by spreading the ball around with 4 WR sets and effectively using the play-action. This assumes a beast O-line. Sam already has shown he can spread the ball with ease, not latching on to a target (except Amendola on third down). However we weren't effective with the play-action since we had no one who could beat coverage. We also use TE's extensively, so I'm curious what will happen there (Uh-Oh and Oh-No come to mind).
I believe the hiring of McDaniels sends a signal to free agents: we are taking off the chains of this offense, so who's in? If I were a WR looking for a fresh start, a francise QB who is on the brink of becoming a stud, and a crazy creative OC, I'd want to come here. At O-line, McDaniels also has connections back to the Patriots, and Logan Mankins. If only...
