Are the Rams gonna get Vincent Jackson?

Hey this is my very first post so bare with me. The answer is no, but I REALLY wish the answer is yes. I don't think the Rams organization will offer anything to the Chargers. The Rams already missed out on Mike Vick, Donavon McNabb, Willie Parker, (I think he is a free agent now though. Maybe the Rams will look to sign a backup for Steven Jackson.), TO, and a few other players that we could've gotten cheap.

So will the Rams get Vincent. I think they won't. If we did we would have to give up a few draft picks and that's probably it.

Well the rams passed on vick and mcnabb for obvious reasons...one sucks now and the other is too old for a rebuilding team

willie parker still may be an option. it does seem unlikely that the rams will actually land vjax but we’ll see.

I just dont understand

Why the Rams wont make these moves all you have to do is get V. Jackson and sign Wille Parker and you have a competive team each and every week is very simple make the moves!!!!!!

Devils Advocate here

How does signing Willie Park make us a better team?? I realize he is a better backup RB option than what we currently have, but does the 5 plays he plays every game really make a differance…no it doesn’t. Something else to consider with Parker’s injury history those 5 plays a game might only be for a few games.

VJax, great talent for sure, no one can argue that. But when you think what it will take to get him, it’s probably not worth it. The money we would have to invest in him could a long ways to improving a couple of different positions, instead of just WR. For right now, it doesn’t make sense.

Wow you are right, S Jax never gets injured. Oh, wait he has missed time in every season but one. Hmmm, might make sense to have someone that can actually run the ball behind an aging power back that is coming off of a major surgery.
Also the money that we will have to spend on a top five over all pick will be similar to what Jackson wants. Wouldn’t it be smarter to take a guy that we know is good in the NFL rather than someone that we think may possibly be good?! Just a thought.

Ignorance is bliss and way too many people are happy.

Right...

Willie Parker would be the answer than! You are absolutely right, because that guy never gets hurt. As far as VJax goes, it will probably cost draft picks and money…for a diva, dui acquiring WR. A WR that has 1 really good season, 1 above average season and is demanding elite WR money. Sorry…I don’t see it.

by bdemartin on Sep 4, 2010 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Willie Parker would handle 15% of the load, no more than that. He has looked decent in preseason and if Jackson goes down we would have a runner that is still more capable than Toston or anybody else we decide to keep.
Jackson is a perfect physical specimen at 6’5", has great speed and is durable. Has proven he will go up for poorly thrown passes, has great hands and can be a featured WR. As far as the money goes, NFL network just said he is in the 20 million dollar range. A lottery ticket pick in the high rounds of the draft will cost us more and the player we get could be Deon Branch!? What don’t you get? There is proven NFL talent and then there is Bula Bula Bowl winner.

Ignorance is bliss and way too many people are happy.

We already turned down Willie Parker before the Redskins

signed him. He doesn’t have it anymore. If he did the Redskins would have kept him over one of the other old fossils they still have at RB.

Jackson would undoubtedly be an upgrade for us, and I would be happy to see him playing for the Rams. However, if he has to sit out the first 6 weeks of this season he isn’t worth the money for this year.

this ^

I’m not opposed to finding a solid backup RB to SJax, but Fast..er…I mean Not so Fast Willie Parker isn’t the man for the job. We love the talent that VJax holds, but the diva, hold out, dui sh*t is not something I want on this team. As Andy said, if would acquire VJax, he probably misses at least 1/3 of the season, so his impact on the current year would be minimal. Next season we will have plenty of other avenues to explore to get help at WR.

Trade

I dont know if I would really be happy about a trade for Vincent Jackson, seeing as the price we would pay for him. The reports i read was that they are wanting a first rounder and some, and then not only do u have to pay that price, you are looking at a Brandon Marshall type contract. But, dont get me wrong, I would be extremely excited to see Jackson in a Rams uniform, but a trade that would cost us a 1st rounder plus more just dont seem worth it to me.

by Cloud324 on Sep 4, 2010 2:57 PM CDT reply actions

No way they would get a first from anybody because of the contract status

at most they’ll get a second rounder and maybe a late round pick.

How many games

did the rams win last year with the same recieving core and the same running back situation the only difference from last year tell now is Avery gone for the season so Kenneth Dardy is better that willie parker please if Dardy got cut today no other team would sign him and as far as V. Jackson you have a rookie quarterback with a young wide reciever core none of those guys are legitament play makers they are unproven you have a chance to compete this year by given up a second round pick YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME NOT PLAY TO LOOSE AND WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!

by Ramsfan201 on Sep 5, 2010 1:36 PM CDT reply actions

if your dont plan

to make any moves and your going to wait for next year for everything just have the organization forfit all the games your not doing everything to win this year so just forfit wait for next year this is looser talk and if you go out there with that mentaillity you already lose!!!!

by Ramsfan201 on Sep 5, 2010 1:44 PM CDT reply actions

except for

the fact that younger players mature into better ones (as Avery showed he was and as Amendola probably will) and injured players usually get healthy (Robinson)…..and this year there’s a much better QB that will surely help the situation…..oh, and a TE that can make plays has apparently shown up…..

by CoachConnors on Sep 5, 2010 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

So in one year

all the young player are going to develope from one win to wining the division!!! Thats what every team objective should be when the season starts!

by Ramsfan201 on Sep 5, 2010 3:40 PM CDT reply actions

Yes, exactly.

Obviously thats not what I said, but the point is mortgaging the future is a futile hamster wheel that the Redskins play and it doesn’t win.

Sure, one year can make a huge difference especially when it’s going from year 2 to year 3, as in Avery’s case, he looked very good before the injury.

2nd rounders turn into Saffolds and Laurinaitis’s, who are more valuable to this team than a Vince Jackson would be. Bradley Fletcher is getting there too. Chris Long is getting there too.

Besides, its not like Jackson is good for even 2 wins.

by CoachConnors on Sep 5, 2010 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions

I think he would open alot things up

for the offense and if they got V. Jackson it would help Bradford out alot the offense would be set for years and then with the draft you could sure up the defense

by Ramsfan201 on Sep 5, 2010 4:15 PM CDT reply actions

First off, he wouldn't play in the first six games due to his two suspensions.

I’m not sure he would even be allowed to practice with his suspensions. So even after the six weeks of suspension, he would have another couple of weeks or more when he couldn’t do much because he had never practiced with the team. How does it make sense to give up our draft pick at the top of the second round (at least) and big bucks for a guy who at best could help you over the last half of the season and no more?

by andyhawk on Sep 5, 2010 7:31 PM CDT up reply actions

but still

giving bradford a wr with expierece being a number one guy is HUGE! id prefer if we got TJ but vjax would help us out a lot. perhaps after his suspension he could be a changed man. but it does look pretty clear the rams wont go after the bolt :(

Didnt read every post, but...

….if anyone wrote that Housh is better, or would make us better, than V-Jax hasnt watched football for the past couple of seasons. Not a chance. Size, speed, youth…..and every meaningful football stat would prove otherwise.
