Rams officially name Sam Bradford their starting QB...finally

Sam Bradford has been named the St. Louis Rams starting QB.

Keith Null will be released, and Thaddeus Lewis has earned the third QB job.

Kevin Payne will be placed on IR as well as OL Eric Young.  That's three more roster moves, leaving ten more to go.

now lets get a dencent #2 running back some depth at OL and vincent jackson

yep

i think with a few more pieces i think we kan win 9 or 10 games

by irams28 on Sep 4, 2010 1:39 PM CDT reply actions

The important part is, we seem to have gotten to the point where now the team just has some holes to fill.

Previously, we’ve been trying to build the cornerstones of the franchise, but we seem to have a good core group of guys now.

by StopSpe on Sep 4, 2010 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah even if the media wont recognize it

we do only have a few holes now. im so sick of hearing well this team is really starting from scratch, rebuilding at all positions, etc. its amazing how little research some of these so called experts do

by Buck Nasty87 on Sep 4, 2010 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Good news!

I hope Null the best of luck, but I am glad to see Lewis stay, and I’m so glad Bradford made the cut for starting qb :S

So...........

If Kevin Payne isn’t going to play this season? What happens with that draft pick we gave up?

by Tevin T. Broner on Sep 4, 2010 1:50 PM CDT reply actions

Aw I thought it was a conditional pick.

With the way this season has been who knows who we could have traded for, with that pick.

by Tevin T. Broner on Sep 4, 2010 1:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Finally, Null is outta here. Tell me I was wrong on that one.

I would’ve given Eric Young (Alex Barron Jr.) his unconditional release too. I’m sorry our buddy Payne hurt his knee, but he’s no key player either.

philly 3rd string

Kolb was 2nd string QB and Vick was 3rd but used in the wildcat formation. And yes I agree Kold is one hell of a QB but he is no Bradford. (sorry had to throw that in)

Glad Thad got that 3rd QB spot

He looked a lot more impressive than Null

It's about time he was named the starter.

I never understood the reticence on Spags’ part to pull the trigger after his great performance this preseason.

by ViperLjs on Sep 4, 2010 2:50 PM CDT reply actions

If the Rams can make this happen

if the Rams can get V. Jackson and sign Wille Parker and get a lilttle help at offensive Line I can see the Rams going to the playoffs this year!!!!!

by Ramsfan201 on Sep 4, 2010 2:54 PM CDT reply actions

he was veteran in this system having played live game action, yep.

On this roster, that was his value anyway, compared to 2 of the 3 guys that remain.

by CoachConnors on Sep 4, 2010 4:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Coach, I know you liked Null. But his performance = cut and never to be heard from again.

Personally, i really resented how someone has bad as Null appeared to always be yelling at and blaming the other players. Spags saw through that mirage.

I LOVE how they aren’t afraid to make the tough decisions, decisions that benefit the team. We haven’t seen that since Vermeil left IMHO.

I would have thought Null would have landed on the practice squad though..

Houshmanzadeh going to be released outright, sounds like

He doesn’t have an Avery skillset but he’s definitely bargain reliable veteran hands, considering he can catch 70 balls and the Seahawks would pay most of his guaranteed salary.

my cuts are:
C Miller

TE Fells

save cutting Ogb or Darby if better names come to us on waiver wire like Parker, Betts and CHOICE.

You have to cut them before they can be put on PS

I am sorry for him but...

… this may be a strong indication that the Rams are going after a #1 WR to be competitive this year…

by abiRam on Sep 4, 2010 5:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Danario is hurt though

at least, not back yet…so probably safe for a while

by CoachConnors on Sep 4, 2010 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions

still

would rather have seen Ah you or fells cut in his place.

Danario wasnt worth a 53 man roster spot

Hes hurt and we dont have the luxury of keeping him. Remember, if someone places a claim then they have to sign Danario to their 53 man roster. Hes far from being game ready so people wont sign him to the active. Well get him on the PS.

by stuman89 on Sep 4, 2010 5:31 PM CDT up reply actions

fair point.

lets hope no one snaps him up and we keep him there.

i dunno, he's too huge?

i would consider it though, Dorin Dickerson was moved to WR
Colston was drafted a TE… but COlston was only 215/220 Onobun is 250/260!

Didn't San Diego have some guy that was 250 body-builder WR at one point?

(and then he went to Miami, maybe?) Cant recall his name but he was a head case

by CoachConnors on Sep 4, 2010 5:36 PM CDT up reply actions

i dont know

but i dont see why we shuld wait for anyone else to usher in the new breed of WRs we should definitely lead the way.
create a huge offense, fast and powerful
SJAX!
BRADFORD (big… and accurate)
ONOBUN
HOOM
SMITH
SAFFOLD
BROWN

he has decent speed too

not outstanding but pretty damn good…. and he is so big that he could run over most corners…. I could see it…

by stlfan2004 on Sep 4, 2010 5:41 PM CDT up reply actions

WR David Boston I think at one point was upwards of 250

and got in trouble for steroid use because, well, just look at him

by CoachConnors on Sep 4, 2010 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions

lol

how the hell do you cover that if you’re a corner

by stlfan2004 on Sep 5, 2010 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions

he's a huge target regardless of where he lines up

he is a mismatch anywhere on the field.
too fast for LBS or safeties
too big for CBS

VERY excited.

+1

ogb… needed to go
danario…. i am sad to see but understand…. hoping he clears waivers
quincy butler…. big mistake IMO

I think the Rams made all the right choices.

I think null is a good backup, but Lewis is a talent that you just cant let go of. If they develop it and he happens to show his skills some time down the road if bradford gets hurt or whatever, the rams could get some value out of him. But for the now, he is a dynamic player that can move the offense in bradford’s absence.

Toston or whatever his name is was the obvious choice there. I think I would have picked him over Darby. He doesnt seem to be as fast, but has better footwork and seem to get an extra yard or two after contact.

It is looking good!
