Rams officially name Sam Bradford their starting QB...finally
Sam Bradford has been named the St. Louis Rams starting QB.
Keith Null will be released, and Thaddeus Lewis has earned the third QB job.
Kevin Payne will be placed on IR as well as OL Eric Young. That's three more roster moves, leaving ten more to go.

I’m really excited about this group. Glad Thad made the cut
Solid
never cared much for Null
"Twin-headed infinite swirling vortex of grotesque suckitude known as Tony Clark and Eric Byrnes"
yes finally
now lets get a dencent #2 running back some depth at OL and vincent jackson
Vincent Jackson and Robert Quinn sounds pretty good.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
yep
i think with a few more pieces i think we kan win 9 or 10 games
Let's not go overboard. We still need a quality b/u RB, a WR, a competent D-Lineman and one more good O-Lineman AT A MINIMUM.
The important part is, we seem to have gotten to the point where now the team just has some holes to fill.
Previously, we’ve been trying to build the cornerstones of the franchise, but we seem to have a good core group of guys now.
yeah even if the media wont recognize it
we do only have a few holes now. im so sick of hearing well this team is really starting from scratch, rebuilding at all positions, etc. its amazing how little research some of these so called experts do
Good news!
I hope Null the best of luck, but I am glad to see Lewis stay, and I’m so glad Bradford made the cut for starting qb :S
So...........
If Kevin Payne isn’t going to play this season? What happens with that draft pick we gave up?
It was used in the supplemental draft
A 7th round pick isn’t a huge loss.
Aw I thought it was a conditional pick.
With the way this season has been who knows who we could have traded for, with that pick.

Finally, Null is outta here. Tell me I was wrong on that one.
I would’ve given Eric Young (Alex Barron Jr.) his unconditional release too. I’m sorry our buddy Payne hurt his knee, but he’s no key player either.
i thought the same thing about young
all of his penalties were killing us thursday
Well how many 3rd string QBs are actually good.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
philly 3rd string
Kolb was 2nd string QB and Vick was 3rd but used in the wildcat formation. And yes I agree Kold is one hell of a QB but he is no Bradford. (sorry had to throw that in)
Glad Thad got that 3rd QB spot
He looked a lot more impressive than Null

Showtime!
Trial by fire! I love it.
Sign Vincent Jackson are were in contention IMO.

It's about time he was named the starter.
I never understood the reticence on Spags’ part to pull the trigger after his great performance this preseason.
If the Rams can make this happen
if the Rams can get V. Jackson and sign Wille Parker and get a lilttle help at offensive Line I can see the Rams going to the playoffs this year!!!!!
he was veteran in this system having played live game action, yep.
On this roster, that was his value anyway, compared to 2 of the 3 guys that remain.
Coach, I know you liked Null. But his performance = cut and never to be heard from again.
Personally, i really resented how someone has bad as Null appeared to always be yelling at and blaming the other players. Spags saw through that mirage.
Here's a link
To at least some of the press conference
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
Thanks for the link, Onobun.
Go Rams…go Sammy B!!!
Ravens cut Troy Smith
I think I’d rather have Smith than Lewis.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.

Rams FO continues to impress
I LOVE how they aren’t afraid to make the tough decisions, decisions that benefit the team. We haven’t seen that since Vermeil left IMHO.
I would have thought Null would have landed on the practice squad though..

does anyone know...
what the kick and punt return situation is looking like . Amendola getting both or splitting with Gilyard
i heard amendola was getting promoted to the number 2 WR
which means all return duties would probably be given to gilyard
lol coach we posted that the same minute LOL

yo are the great mind, I'm just tagging along lol

"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
yeah.... this is probably the first shocker for me
i thought he made the cut
and here's what's even more strange..
I’m surprised, but the way our FO has been doing with these decisions, I’m starting to trust them LOL
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
lmao
first time in years anyone could say that
Hes soft and gets thrown around
He was great in coverage, little surprised hes not going to be a nickel linebacker
9 left right? How many hours until deadline
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Houshmanzadeh going to be released outright, sounds like
He doesn’t have an Avery skillset but he’s definitely bargain reliable veteran hands, considering he can catch 70 balls and the Seahawks would pay most of his guaranteed salary.
I wish they’d leave Amendola in the slot. I guess I can wish all I want.
That is a definite head scratcher
Hmmm release or trade?
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Victor Adeyanju also cut.
Does this means Eugene Sims makes it?
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
I think it would have to.. as well as Selvie
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Most recent cuts, some already mentioned:
linebacker Bobby Carpenter, who was acquired in the Alex Barron trade with Dallas; cornerback Marquis Johnson, a seventh-round draft pick; wide receiver Brandon McRae; and offensive tackle Ryan McKee.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
Bobby has played for a couple seasons
He can’t make the PS.
And by my count, the roster is now at 56. 3 more to go.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.

i think there is a rule
where if you have played (9?) games in the NFL you are no longer eligible for practice squad
yes it is 9.. that's why I knew Danny wouldn't go back there

Buffalo let go of 2 WR's: James Hardy and Chad Jackson
Both kind of surprises. Hardy’s a 2nd round pick who is just starting his 3rd year.
Jackson had a good preseason with 11 catches.
McRae dropped some passes.. looked good at times though
Bottom line we had enough 3’s and 4’s
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
yea "McRae's" are a dime a dozen

I heard he could get PUP status
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
this would be my preference
no one can take him he hets six weeks more under his belt of learning and rehabbing
lol yea
Haven’t seen this much buzz around Rms football since I’ve been coming here.. it’s all because of you Tevin, I know it.

alphonso smith sent to lions
would be interesting to see what he’d do for depth here
and it’s further evidence that mcdaniels is the worst HC in the NFL right now, you give up a first to get a 2nd rounder then you trade him… DOOFUS.
so glad we got spags :)
would hate to be a bronco fan…
Bradford to Onobun!
That is messed up LMAO

Joique Bell cut by Bills today
Possibly a guy we could look at for backup Rb.

so many RBs available ill be damned if we enter the season with silent G or the dude who got knocked out by a ref
hahahahahahah
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
I like it
Go for Bell or Jonathon Dwyer (should he get waived) and another vet back up for SJax. Then put Toston on the PS.
I'm thinking no

I think Curry could make it.
Mostly because he tweeted something an hour or two ago that seemed happy. It had nothing to do with football but it something like how its a great day.

he landed that block right in front of me at the game (where i was sitting)
i turned to my husband and said “he just made the roster IMO”
If you were hoping to get Lagarette Blount it looks like he made the Titans roster.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
he never impressed me TBH
his size may have been good for college, but I don’t think he’ll be able to muscle around nfl defenders and he’s not much more than a bruiser IMO.
lol why do you say that VT?
I’m just another college student trying to make it. I wonder if Vincent Jackson will be dealt today? If not he’s gone for 6 games.
12 minutes to go until final cuts are due and we still need to make a few more cuts.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.

LMAO that's a great question
.. we have to play with 52 players the first 4 games.. no LOL I really donno

Cudjo/Ah You - or Burton.. getting down to the nitty gritty
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
If Burton is out...
… would that mean we would be in serious search of a #1 WR? I hope so!
thats what i'm thinking...those are MY guesses for potential , not official
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Sounds good to me...
… if we would be truly pursuing a #1 WR! I like your way of thinking VT!
i know a lot of people here dont think much of burton but i actually like him
i think hes a reliable target and plays his butt off
I like him too.. but again, too many 3'4 and 4's
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
I don't really get the hatred either.

Thanks Tevin :-)

wasn’t too bad, got cut from eagles.
as you can see i was just throwing random names out.
Bradford to Onobun!
Fendi
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Fendi cannot be cut!
He would be taken from our PS in no time!
Yea Ogs, Fells gotta be sweatin'
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
+1 to all those who said Fendi can't be cut.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.

I wasn't saing I hoped, thinking PS however... yea, hed be nabbed fast
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
I think Ogs, Fells, and Vobora
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Interesting, Vobora was in trouble for PED's
maybe he had trouble competing without them?
I think Fendi would be safe on PS. Just my take on it.
Howard Balzer tweets:
With 4 cuts to go for Rams, still no word on … Dominique Curry, Eugene Sims, George Selvie, Jermelle Cudjo, Drew Miller, Renardo Foster, Daniel Fells, Keith Toston. From that group, four will make it. At least for today.
So either he thinks Fendi’s safe or he forgot about him.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
i would put my cuts from that as miller, fells and renardo foster? ( i don't know miller and foster)
Bradford to Onobun!
lol
i hate cut day though, a lot of dreams dashed. some rightfully so, others unfortunately so.
Bradford to Onobun!
what's funny
is now we know they all made it…. the cuts came from elsewhere. Every one of these young bloods got their dream
Chase Coffman was cut.
How about another high upside TE?
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
Selvie, Curry and Toston I think are safe
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
i would LOL so hard
i would rank Sam easily as the 2nd best starting Qb in the div behind Hass and Hass only gets it because of experience. when he gets hurt Sam is the best in the div as a rookie, thats an equal statement about how poor the div is at qb and how talented Sam is.
Bradford to Onobun!
They have Stacy Andrews supposely now.
Maybe that’s why he left.

although cardinals cut ties with Leinhart today… I was really hoping he was their backup this year so they could have drama all season….is that mean?
Sims, Cudjo (please keep HIM), Fells, Foster sweatin
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
Fells should be gone
He was more of a receiver and Mike has far more upside where Fells is maxed out.
Miller, Foster, Fells, goodbye I'd say
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi

miller, foster, ogs... keep Fells
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
i don't know anything about foster
but he is a 6’7" big old sob and a tackle…. if he can move that weight around decently we kind of need him for depth
Stacy Andrews is a Seahawk
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
i think we are saving
ogs and darby for waiver wire signings like parker, betts and maybe even choice.
so we can cut like for like if we see improvements on waiver wire.
so todays cuts will be close to final roster with a few additions and subtractions from waiver wire.
i expect to see fan hotspots like TE and WR and even DE safe
but places like RB as spots of contention.
i really feel spags and billy rate our current WR’s
Bradford to Onobun!
Stan make a move!
Show the rest of the NFL that we believe we can be contenders in the NFC West this year! We are one #1 WR and a backup RB away from it!
what is the list of cuts thus far?
or is there a list of the remaining players that can be edited when changed by a site admin?
Bradford to Onobun!
you can, i know i have... especially the recent madden diatribe, edited it like twice...

Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
Cuz they have to clear waivers.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
I am sorry for him but...
… this may be a strong indication that the Rams are going after a #1 WR to be competitive this year…
Danario wasnt worth a 53 man roster spot
Hes hurt and we dont have the luxury of keeping him. Remember, if someone places a claim then they have to sign Danario to their 53 man roster. Hes far from being game ready so people wont sign him to the active. Well get him on the PS.
So Onobun, Fells, Bajema, and Hoomanawanui, and Curry all made it.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
i dunno, he's too huge?
i would consider it though, Dorin Dickerson was moved to WR
Colston was drafted a TE… but COlston was only 215/220 Onobun is 250/260!
Bradford to Onobun!
Didn't San Diego have some guy that was 250 body-builder WR at one point?
(and then he went to Miami, maybe?) Cant recall his name but he was a head case
i dont know
but i dont see why we shuld wait for anyone else to usher in the new breed of WRs we should definitely lead the way.
create a huge offense, fast and powerful
SJAX!
BRADFORD (big… and accurate)
ONOBUN
HOOM
SMITH
SAFFOLD
BROWN
Bradford to Onobun!
he has decent speed too
not outstanding but pretty damn good…. and he is so big that he could run over most corners…. I could see it…
WR David Boston I think at one point was upwards of 250
and got in trouble for steroid use because, well, just look at him

lol
how the hell do you cover that if you’re a corner
he's a huge target regardless of where he lines up
he is a mismatch anywhere on the field.
too fast for LBS or safeties
too big for CBS
VERY excited.
Bradford to Onobun!
+1
ogb… needed to go
danario…. i am sad to see but understand…. hoping he clears waivers
quincy butler…. big mistake IMO
I don't mind having all those TE's, especially since the QB is a rookie
very valuable…as I have been harping on for months
I think the Rams made all the right choices.
I think null is a good backup, but Lewis is a talent that you just cant let go of. If they develop it and he happens to show his skills some time down the road if bradford gets hurt or whatever, the rams could get some value out of him. But for the now, he is a dynamic player that can move the offense in bradford’s absence.
Toston or whatever his name is was the obvious choice there. I think I would have picked him over Darby. He doesnt seem to be as fast, but has better footwork and seem to get an extra yard or two after contact.
It is looking good!
