Rams in the mix (again) for Vincent Jackson?
Hold the phone. As NFL teams across the league cut their rosters, troubled Chargers WR Vincent Jackson is a guy on lots' on minds today...including the St. Louis Rams.
According to Jim Thomas of the PD, the Rams "could be in on Vincent Jackson."
Wow. That's means a lot coming from Thomas who doesn't dabble in the wild speculation that pervades some members of the national media. Keep an eye on this situation. If a Jackson deal is going to happen, today would be a good day, as he has to sign his RFA tender to avoid another 3 games tacked on to his suspension.
If this is true, the Rams coaches and front office must feel fairly confident in their ability to compete this year, and especially next year when they could really get in the division title mix.
Hit us up on the Twitter machine, as the action is happening fast and furious today and we're all over it.

I think this will happen
And as a result that rookie QB that has looked good, will appear way better. Jackson isnt really a YAC guy but he will catch anything anywhere around him
IMO
I disagree...
Housh for $7 million or Jackson for $9-10 million?
I’d take Jackson…he’s better and in his prime. If they can’t get Jackson then I think Housh would be better than picking up nobody at all though.

BRADFORD NAMED STARTER!!!!!!!!
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
Onobun > Gates
I don't know
I got that info off of Brian Stull’s twitter account. I know he’ll be on 101.1 ESPN shortly if you live in STL.

i think we should get VJ
cause it will take him time to learn the playbook. so during this 3 game suspension he will get the playbook down and week 4 make a impact instead of having tj just dress and not play at all becasue he doesnt know the playbook either
Come on Stan and BD
go get Vincent Jackson.
Surely the team has shown enough this preseason to deserve some investment to complement Bradford, SJax, Uh Oh and Amendola.
dat would be scary
amendola gibson and vincent and jackson on a pass play how would you cover dat
haven't been an advocate for Jackson because of the price tag
but I gotta say…. you would not want to be the defense on that play….lol
It'd be even better...
if Laurent Robinson was in there somewhere too!

that would be my preference but I've seen that ocho is already lobbying to get him back to the bengals
which is where he wants to be so it may be impossible for us to get him
His skill set is a number 2
He was awesome in Cincinnati as a complement to C Ochocinco. When he tried to make a stand as a number 1, he fell flat on his face. Very good over the middle in short to middle range situations. He has the body to muscle some catches that our smaller receivers wouldn’t make.
If he gets cut and we can get a deal similar to the TO deal Cinci got (base vet salary with incentives based upon escalated performance goals) he wouldn’t be a bad pickup.
Once again, I vote for a veteran presence in this group to just give the guys someone to ask questions to and do some teaching.
rite stl fan
yea so dats why im sayin vincent jackson
Doubtful, sad to say. We rarely pick up anyone with real talent in free agency.
Westbrook, TO and even Mike Vick are looking pretty good now. Who wouldn’t rather have Vick in the 2nd spot versus AJ Feeley? Defenses would crap if they ever had to deal with Vick and Jackson in the same backfield. TO’s old but still better than most WRs out there. And Westbrook was worth more than Darby, Obog and Toast combined.
I agree Westbrook had more talent than what we've got right now
but didn’t I hear he got injured and is out for the season?
No, Westbrook will be good to go.
He did strain something, his hamstring if I recall correctly, but has been taking it easy as a precaution, similar to Davis and Crabtree. Hope you guys can get Vincent Jackson.

No problem.
If I had my way, the 49ers would win the division, the Rams would be a wild card team, and the Cardinals and Seahawks would cry themselves to sleep every season.

If I had my way, the Rams would forge a 6-0 payback season over the 40 decliners, Sh*thawks and Cardinelli's.
Payback?
What did the 49ers ever do to adversely affect the Rams? How about we each go 5-1, that seems nice.

How far back do you wan to go??? Say maybe the creations of the NFC West in 1970?
John Brodie kicked our asses three years straight. Then we had to endure Supermen like Montana and Rice…? Stomped our buts in 1989 NFC Championship. Then the Young years. And how ’bout Ronnie Lott, TO, Garcia? Egad I hate the 49ers almost as much as the Sh*thawks!
17 straight versus the Rams.. that 8.5 seasons
of losing to them. I Cried when Warner and co. beat them in 99 to end the streak.
Remember the Roger Craig run that posterized us for a decade?
I could go on for a long time.

Westbrook and TO yes, but Vick is a joke and always has been. Vick has never made it through a full season uninjured and couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn if you painted a huge non-fighting pit bull on the side of it. Kroenke has to show that he has a pair and that he is committed to building a winner now and not 3 years from now. Let’s get Jackson! 6’5" and speedy!
Ignorance is bliss and way too many people are happy.
Do you think...
that the Colts or the Patriots or the Packers want Michael Vick? Of course not, cause why would you take out an elite QB so you could put some hack job in there to run the wildcat? Bradford is the QB now…and I don’t want to see ANY other dude playing QB for the Rams. Not for a play here and there…not for nothing!!! I’d take AJ Feeley cause he’s a real QB, and he can mentor Bradford. Vick is not a real QB. Come on RamChop, get on the bandwagon!
I agree with you more than ever though that it’d be nice to pick up a legit #1 WR…especially after Avery went down for the year.

You guys don't really think I was saying use Vick in place of Bradford do youi?????
I just think there’s time the man could be very valuable. He can run and throw. Imagine a backfield with Sam, Jackson and Vick in it. What the heck does a defense do???? There’s os many options in that scenario. They couldn’t focus on Brad, cause either Jax or Vick could run the ball. Or Sam could flip off to Vick who could run or throw to Jackson. If they cover Jax then Vick could run it or option back to Sam for a flea flicker. Both Sam and Vick have powerful arms. People need to realize Vick has talent and has paid his debt to society for killing some mutts. Anybody remember a young Vick stomping the Rams and Bulger 48-17 in the divisional playoffs of 2005?
Kinda sounded like that...
sorry if I overreacted :)

vick's a risk for both sides when he steps onto the field
unfortunately now hes more of a risk to his own team. he has made some poor decisions this preseason and would likely turn the ball over a lot.
I don't believe it.
I wish I could, because I think Jackson would be a real coup, even in exchange for the compensation it would take. All the Rams/V. Jackson talk has the smell of people trying to stir something up by reporting something that seems logical, rather than reporting anything based on what the Rams are actually doing.
Rams GM needs to do something
if we could get V. Jackson and Wille parker the Rams would win the division if Bradford can play like he did in the preseason The Rams can make the playoffs this year look at the schedule!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmmm.....
I believe it too…kindof…but not really.
But HOPE is a great thing, and something we as Rams fans haven’t had in a loooooong time!
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Sep 4, 2010 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions
The Rams had Willie Parker in for a workout
before he signed with Washington. We could have signed him then if we thought he could do the job. The fact that they let him move on to Washington should tell you they don’t want him. All he ever really had was speed, and now he doesn’t have that.
Even if we have to give up a 2+ for Jackson, I would love to see this move happen.
It would instantly legitimize our offense. Sadly, I doubt it happens; this type of big splash move is not our front office’s MO. Perhaps Mr. Kroenke can change that philosophy, however…
NFC West contenders?
I believe we are one #1 WR and one backup RB from being a serious contender to win the NFC West. Before the draft, I was a huge advocate of getting Brandon Marshall. If the FO knew that they were going to get Bradford they should have tried to land Marshall. Can you imagine having Bradford, Steven Jackson and Brandon Marshall lined up? Anyway, I am not sure if Vincent Jackson is a #1 WR but if he is, I say let’s do it! This would shake the division and send a message to the rest of the NFL saying that the Rams want to be competitive NOW!
Go Rams!
Caveat...
Don’t forget that it would’ve cost a 2nd round pick. With that pick we took Saffold, and I think him at LT and Smith at RT has made our OL much better. And they’ve been able to give the KING time to throw the ball in the preseason. So I kind of agree and disagree at the same time :)

Good point Shea W.
… Cannot argue that one. Having a good offense starts at the OL. I don’t remember the terms now but perhaps we could have thrown a 3rd round in 2010 and 2011? I really hope we make a strong move now. Go Rams!
Definitely agree...
that it’d be GREAT to get a #1 WR for Bradford though. We needed one BEFORE Avery got hurt, now we positively cannot do without another WR if he’s gonna be successful.

We got the Chargers for Week #5
You think Vincent Jackson would love to let the playbook sink in for three weeks, play one game with the team and then go out there and burn his ex-teammates the following week? I know I would!!
That would be awesome!
Perhaps an extra motivation for VJ to join the Rams?
Did you see...
That Bobby Carpenter and Marquis Johnson, Adenyaju, McRae and Ryan McKee got released?
Guess that means we’re gonna keep Josh Hull, which I like.
