Injuries leave Rams hurting for tight ends and defensive tackles

Things went from bad to worse for the St. Louis Rams who issued another lengthy injury report in the wake of another disappointing loss.

TE Billy Bajema is out for 2-4 weeks with an MCL injury. TE Daniel Fells also has an MCL issue, less severe, and is day to day. Tight ends have been hit especially hard through two weeks of the season. Michael Hoomanawanui is out for up to 6 weeks, though he did have his cast off today. The injury to Bajema hurts because the Rams really need his blocking ability on the line. It probably means FB/TE Jamie McCoy gets promoted from the practice squad. Darcy Johnson is an adequate blocker, but the Rams really need a receiving option at tight end.

Hopefully, Daniel Fells will be back on the field in short order. In the meantime, I also wonder if they won't be giving Fendi Onobun a crash course to get him up to speed.

DT Jermelle Cudjo might also get a bump up from the practice squad because DT Darrell Scott will miss "extended time" thanks to a high ankle sprain. DT Clifton Ryan was out this week with migraines, though I did see it mentioned as complications with a concussion on one occasion. Ryan is no guarantee to return this week either. If Cudjo does get promoted, it would be a great chance for him to prove that his ability to get pressure in the preseason was no fluke.

Speaking of concussions, SS Craig Dahl has one, and those are tricky injuries, just ask Jason Smith. Dahl will have to pass a more rigorous battery of concussion tests before he can return, which could happen in time for this Sunday's game, but it probably won't.

OT Rodger Saffold had a sore back, but is fine. CBs Justin King and Kevin Dockery could be ready to go this week, though Jerome Murphy sure did make the case for more playing time.

Because we lose...

… if you are winning, you are doing the hitting. If you are losing, you are getting hit.

Man...the team has more attitude but...

…can you imagine like the baltimore ravens and one of their recievers got body slammed like that? Shit…the benches would clear…Ray Lewis would be out there getting flagged and he isnt even on offense!

He misses on a block

and Sam Bradford gets destroyed! He should only see time in purely pass situations.Seriously did we learn nothing from Keith Null last year. If coaches say he ain’t ready then he ain’t ready!

Did you watch the pressure coming in the oakland game ??

we should have 8 guys on the line if we are gonna play dont let the QB get hit. He is going to get hit part of the deal for Rookie QB. If your worried about that dont put him in until we have a line can protect him.

TE's

The game log has only 3 passes targeted to TE’s; none after midway in 2nd qtr. Now I know why

my question is why even activate te johnson....we didn't throw to him once

he is a waste of space with no potential…i just don’t understand it.

I feel like I need to do an...

…on the bright side post…

I feel like the Rams have the ability to score touchdowns when they get into the Red Zone. We are not generating enough drives down field, but when we do get one going, they seem to end in touchdowns more often then last season.

I actually am a bulger fan, I still really like him as a quarterback. But Sam is a whole other level and that seems to show itself when the ball is in his hands and the Rams need to score.

4th pick in the draft back in 01

but he has been solid.

Seriously people – if you are going to dog a player, then get his name right. That is unless you have a vested long term interest in the current 9er, former Bengal DE

I should be working right now...

why are we even worried about tight end injuries

we never use them anyway. lets waive them all except fendi and hoom. whats the point for 5 tight ends when they catch like 2 balls a game collectively. Preseason offense was better than regular season, seemed like the deep ball was possible and the tight ends were used very effectively
