Rams Waive Thad Lewis
Are we so thin at other positions that we can't carry Lewis? Seems like the roster management has been questionable ever since final cuts, when I liked what we had to work with. Seems like if we were going to drop Null and keep Lewis two weeks ago, waiving him is an admission that a mistake was made somewhere else. Am I completely wrong?
On the other hand, do we think he can be kept on the practice squad? He can't be that in demand, right?

I am fairly ambivalent
On one hand I think that Thad had some nice upside and that he played well enough during preseason to warrant his spot as 3rd string….so I don’t like that he is waived.
On the other hand….he is the 3rd string rookie QB – it is very likely that he clears waivers and is added to practice squad himself. The hope is that he is never needed anyway (and yes, I am fully aware of the Rams injury history) when there is a need at this moment for CB depth due to week 1 injuries.
I should be working right now...
Yes it was Marquis

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

We couldn't ad Thad to the practice squad?

I suspect other teams
would like to have him on their practice squad, but not on their 53 man roster. He will probably clear waivers and go on our practice squad.
great move
I think we are comfortable set withg Sam at thge helm. We have AJ on the bench where he’ll probably stay. Moving Thad for a CB that we desperately need seems logical to me.
The only thing comparable to a Rams win is a 49er loss!

I actually don't mind this move
if he clears waivers but that is mildly risky on their part. He is just a rookie and 3rd string but he played very well in preseason, has great running ability and would IMO perk interest from other teams. But if he clears it is a great move because we need better quality depth at cb at he looked like a rookie who could elevate to the next level quickly. …. moreso than murphy in my opinion.
What did he do against me???

Seriously?
We’re wasting time discussing a third-string QB! That’s a luxury we simply can not afford. I think he’s a good prospect but honestly he has no value to the team this year. Face it if our other QBs go down we’re not going to win any games period. I’m not even sure we can afford to keep him on the practice squad given the rate we lose players at other positions. Did we actually use a draft pick on him? I think him making the roster in the first place shows us just how thin we are as a team. It’s a shame to cut loose a legitimate talent to sign players that are at best stop gap solutions but sadly that is the reality of the NFL. I scratch my head at the current ridiculously small roster imposed by the NFL and suspect it will need to be overhauled if they seriously expect to go to a 18 game season.
I don't care about this move
I never want to see him play a game for us anyway. Perhaps he could develop into Sam’s career long backup, but I’d rather sign a veteran every year to back him up. He’ll probably make our PS but if he doesn’t I wish him the best wherever he goes.
Shurmur, your career is in 3rd and long. Don't run a draw.
