TV ratings could signal better times ahead for the Rams
At the end of Sunday's game the score board showed a loss for the St. Louis Rams. However, Stan Kroenke's team did post a positive result on another scoreboard, the Nielsen Ratings.
Fox's broadcast of the Rams opener against the Cardinals drew a 26 percent market share for St. Louis, the highest rated broadcast of a Rams game since 2006. New owner Stan Kroenke has to be smiling about that. If the Rams can top their week 1 effort and beat the Oakland Raiders this week, higher ratings and a more organic sellout could be on tap for their week 3 home game against Washington.
A better team means a better bottom line, and that's big part of the Rams rebuilding project.

Looking at a blackout here in Nor Cal
Raiders unlikely to meet the minimum to sell out the game. Lots of tickets still available.
Rams Ratings Improved = More More Money, More money = better chance of keeping Rams
This is great news for a franchise in rebuilding mode. Watching the game on TV you could tell the fans were back behind this franchise. That is the most important thing about week one for the Rams. They have to keep the fans around, they are in dire need of revenue to help fund the renovation of the Dome.
Remember their lease has a condition that if the Dome isn’t one of the top 8 stadiums in 2014, they can leave town and it will take a lot more than the $272,000 they made in revenue last year to make the necessary changes to the Dome.
Fans must remain patient with this team though. It’s almost like driving through a construction zone, you have to go slow or things could go bad really quickly. For further explanation of that comparison check this out: http://bit.ly/921XlS
But, what was the attendance at the game?
What is the capacity of the stadium? And where can you find attendance statistics, the NFL is tough to figure out. Baseball is easy to find attendances. weird.
I love this team.
Found it FINALLY ...
LINK – to – Post Dispatch “Low Attendance for Opener”
“Sunday’s paid attendance of 52,440 represented the fourth-smallest crowd at the 67,256-seat Edward Jones Dome in the past five seasons”
Wow, that’s sad that it was one of the lowest attended games. It was a home opener. Hopefully, with better product fielded fans will come out and save the team for STL.
Edward Jones Dome Maximum Seating Capacity 67,256.
Arizona Cardinals – St. Louis Rams September 12, 2010 Season Opener Attendance 52,440
I love this team.

The 52,440 was those actually there.
I’m sure there were more seats sold than that, with some season ticket holders not attending.Still, we do need to get back to the way it used to be when almost every seat was full. One thing I did notice – there were very few Cardinals fans there. Even the two obnoxious drunks who come to just the game against Arizona every year and sit in our row to cheer for the Cards weren’t there this year. That was nice.
I'm in Southern California...
…the area that both the Rams and Raiders vacated in 1994. There are still a LOT of Rams (and unfortunately) Raiders fans in this area. If the networks were smart, they would televise that game this weekend in this area. But, due to the lack of respect that the Rams have been getting from FOX lately, I would not be surprised to be force fed some other game that I really don’t give a crap about…
The only other 1:00pm PT game being broadcast on FOX is Seattle vs. Denver
I am in Portland, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I get the Seattle game. But for the SoCal people, it’s not like there is a marquee matchup they would show instead. But who knows, you might just end up with paid programming and wacky sports bloopers.
"I have something 95 percent of all those All-Stars only wish they had: a World Series ring. If I had to choose between that and being an All-Star, it would be no contest. I’d grab the gold ring and never look back." -Tim Salmon
Oh well that cinches it!
For sure we will get the Seahags vs Bronco’s. SoCal needs to get there daily supplement of Tim Tebow!
