Game thread: Rams vs Arizona, 4th quarter
The Rams would like to formally announce their arrival. The Rams head into the 4th quarter leading the game. (though AZ is threatening). When was the last time you heard that?
Big 4th quarter for Sam Bradford, Chris Long and Fred Robbins, who all deserve consideration for the game ball...so far.
The secondary has been sharp as well. Great effort by the Rams. You have to like what you see today.

Major disappointment with loss
poor offense play calling/ qb mistakes at wrong time
Jackson – no action
Clayton was huge
Clifton lost the game with his re-fumble imo – along with the Rhodes interception
Defense got a lot of work to do as offense does.
Home losses show that the team is far from a winning season.
Seattle looked sharp it appears at home.
Can't blame Sam on the Rhodes interception.
Should have never happened but it was a 4th and 10 and half a second from getting hit by 2 people, his only option was to throw it.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
we needed that TD on our last drive

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Bright spots
Clayton caught a lot, dropped a couple
Bradford is a cool operator but still theew 3 picks
Breaston couldn’t be coverd at times
They will power run with Beanie next time we play them
2 of his picks were desperation throws
should he not hurl the ball down there to preserve his stats?
one of those had a man open on the right sideline that could well have scored.
meaning it wasn’t the best read.

Who's the goat???
Josh Brown = blocked FG
Clifton Ryan = not putting the ball away on a sure TD
Ron Bartell = dropped gravy INT
Coaches = poor time management
pick one….
thought the blocked fg was the line's fault
but it turned out to be huge

There was absolutely no other options, the sack would have just been a turnover anyway so he had to go for it.

All in All
We played a good game against the Division Champs and lost due to unforced errors (watching US Open, unforced errors on the brain). Those are fixable errors, I liked how fired up the D was, I liked how scared the Cardinals were of Long. Bradford doesn’t rattle easily. I think we scored with Clayton, but he’s still not a #1 WR. Vincent Jackson, I’m afraid to say, is very much worth the $$$ and the 2nd round pick (plus a 3rd or 4th rounder in 2012).
In all seriousness
If Ryan hadn’t fumbled that ball we’d have beaten you so enjoy your win but i wouldn’t be booking any playoff tickets just yet. Remember as the media seems to delight in saying we suck and yet we just gave you a hell of a game. Not that i’m bitter or anything
by Stonedtodeath on Sep 12, 2010 7:07 PM CDT up reply actions
Oh, please
Then in that case, if Hightower hadn’t fumbled that ball we’d have beaten you bad.
There’s a ton of “if’s”. All in all, DA proved he was tough, threw a TD, and our defense pulled through when we needed them.
Oh, and Sam Bradford showed that he has a ton of potential
A few rookie mistakes, but all in all, he was good.
First thing is that Bradford shouldn't be throwing
50+ passes in his first season let alone his first game. We shouldv’e had tosten in there and he shouldv’e had near 15 touches as he spelled sj

See, I complimented you
I’m predicting like 3-5 wins for you guys this year. Who do you play next week?
I felt pretty good after the Saints one last year.
But this was heartbreaking, we outplayed them for most of the game =(
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
So close
But I have to say that I’m proud of them for putting up a fight. For the first time in a long time I felt hope.
"I have something 95 percent of all those All-Stars only wish they had: a World Series ring. If I had to choose between that and being an All-Star, it would be no contest. I’d grab the gold ring and never look back." -Tim Salmon
We beat ourselves, plain and simple.
Good news is we were obviously the better team and we are obviously MUCH improved from last year. Keep in mind, this was the first game and they’ll only grow from it considering how young we are. Key drops in key moments, our defense was good for the most part aside from mental lapses in important parts of the game, which we’ll have to fix. Chris Long absolutely DOMINATED but, sadly, had no stats to show for it. Offense has potential, those 3rd down drops absolutely killed. Mark Clayton exceeded the good we expected but also showed the bad we expected at times. Bradford’s first interception was the only one on him. No one expected a 65 yard return on that Rhodes interception, his only play was to throw the ball when he was half a second away from getting sacked on a 4th and 10 and down by 4, he did the right thing. He showed why he was the first pick, no doubt, but had his first growing pain there. That Clifton Ryan play…obviously was the biggest factor in losing the game. I really think we will bounce back next week because we are without a doubt a much better team than last year and showed flashes of great potential on both sides of the ball. Once again…Chris Long absolutely DOMINATED that offensive line.

i will say that after seeing what happend today
i think we can beat the raiders, sjax will step up and bradford will be better too.
Bradford was already good today
For a rookie? He threw like what, 50 passes? Most rookies would’ve passed out.
Man you know what else was sick
How bad Derek Anderson turned out to be, you guys would sure be good with a qb but you don’t got one :\ O and man was your Oline porous for that game followed by that pitiful rushing attack but at least you can see that Steve Breaston is your best WR and you can see that Fitz is over the hill. You could also see how ugly your run D looked with Dansby gone, and it’s obvious that Porter is not his replacement, but at least you know now. This plus Whisenhunt’s garbage gameplan man you guys sure got out lucky. Your mascot is pretty good though. (You see how I did that, lead with being happy about your misfortunes then closed with a compliment…douche)
Julio Jones for Rams 2011
Come one now.
Sarcasm or not, no one can ever say Fitz is over the hill haha, dude got 2 good throws his way and one that i think was a screen?
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
I don't think Fitz is over the hill
He’s recovering from a MCL sprain, so he’s bound to still be recovering.
Breaston seemed good today, and yeah, I kind of wish DA played better, but hey, he didn’t throw any interceptions, and from what Browns fans are saying, that seems to be a good thing for him.
Did like the ending though haha.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
Raiders looked awful
As long as we keep feeding the beast named S Jackson, we can churn a win next week.
Dude, I'm optimistic for next week.
We were bound to make mistakes in our first game as a young team and a lot of that will be straightened out by next week for sure. Dropped passes on key downs killed us though, that is something that has to be fixed ASAP.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
Quick question, as a whole
Who do Rams fans like the best? Steven Jackson, Sam Bradford, or someone else?
My top 5 as well haha.
Though Long is second, I’m really liking what he’s doing.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
Naturally.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
What I meant by "seem like a fan favorite"
was that we’re going to be talking about Bradford more than anyone else and be wowing at all of his good plays because he’s our future, but Jackson is still the man.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
I don't know why
But Sam Bradford seems like Steven Strasburg. Hyped up, and then delivers.
Of course, hopefully without the injury. I don’t care who they’re playing for, no one should get injured.
But Sam has yet to prove he can make us winners yet.
Jackson has proved over and over again that even with a horrendous team, he’s willing to carry them on his back (literally) and he’s stepped up tremendously as a leader this season.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
Jackson.
Bradford is our franchise quarterback, he’s going to seem like a fan favorite until he actually becomes it in the future.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
One more question
What do you guys expect from Steven Jackson this year? Another NFC leading rushing yard year, or better?
’Cause he looked good today.
1,400 yards.
Sam will be leaning heavily on him at times.
I used to upload the NCAA Football '09 and '10 rosters into Madden and always drafted Sam Bradford onto the Rams in Franchise Mode...I liked him before he was cool =)
Ah
Steven Jackson is in the running for best running back in the league. It’s just that Chris Johnson is in the NFL also…
I’d say them, along with Adrian Peterson, make up the top three RB’s in the league. Don’t know who’s better. They’re all good in certain area’s.
I think CJ is only better than SJ because of that break away ability. literally untouchable in the open field (unless its DRC lol)
but Jackson is the toughest most complete RB, I wouldn’t put AP up there, his fumbles are stupidly common and way too costly. I rate MJD and DeAngelo Williams above AP.
the difference here is that besides MJD SJ is the only RB without a stellar O Line…
Bradford to Onobun!
AP is definitely the most talented back.
Once he gets his fumbles under control, he will easily be acknowledged as the best back in the league again. But I agree, SJax is the most complete back. More power than any of them but a burst just as good as anyone of them (aside from CJ).

Alright then, bye, good luck against the Raiders next week, you'll probably win
And if I annoyed anyone, which I did, I’m sorry, and I still love you.
That one hurt.
Team played their hearts out. Defense only gave out on two drives (but when they did, it was ugly). Many good signs for Bradford, the defense and the team as a whole (particularly compared to 2009), but just couldn’t put it together into a win. Positivity only goes so far, so the team has plenty to work on to face the Raiders next week. Hope SJax can abuse the Raiders’ run defense like Chris Johnson did today.
