CFB open thread
Great slate of games today. The big games don't kick in for another three hours plus, but Georgia - South Carolina offers plenty of talent on ESPN2 in a couple minutes. Here's my watch list for today's games, and Dan has some great notes on prospects in action today over at MTD.
Also, don't forget we've got another Turf Show Radio episode coming up today at 6pm ET. We'll get a thread up for people to toss questions, comments, gripes, and anything else out while we're on air. And I should be without technical issues, so it should be better on my end. Can we get as many quality call-ins as last week? That's up to yall.
One more day to Rams football...

UC?
Cincy?
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
Gotta flip back and forth
Georgia-S. Carolina on the deuce, Wisconsin-San Jose St. on ESPN. Wisconsin is quietly putting their program back together and they’ve got a couple guys worth watching. John Clay is a beast. But I’ll probably watch the SEC matchup mostly.

Marcus Lattimore
Freshman RB for S. Carolina – looks good, running hard.

Garcia?
Yeah he’s not great, but he can get things done at the college level. Alshon Jeffrey is so strong for a WR. He needs plenty of coaching, but he’s ridiculously talented.

Yeah
I started flipping over to it a couple minutes ago. Florida is seriously overrated this year.

Agree with that
Do you know what kind of record USF usually has, and they are part of the SEC east right?
No
USF is in the Big East, though they did spend two years in Conference USA and were independent before that. They’ve only been D1A for a decade, so there’s not a ton of history. The last four years, they finished with 9 wins, 9, 8 and 8, so they had a nice run under Jim Leavitt. He was fired for some off-field wackiness and this is Skip Holtz’s first year as the Bulls’ HC. Keep in mind, the Rams drafted two Bulls in this draft.

Romeus
May be the next selvie based upon his last two performances.

Greg Romeus from Pitt? He’s only played one game. And it was a seriously poor showing.

Dominance
Colege football is a game of coaching and as much video as I have watched on him shows a pass rusher with great physical skills but not so much understanding of the ge. Watch him fall to the wayside with the rest of the big east because of the lack of division superiority and competition.

The game
3k, being at the game, I’m a little intoxicated ;-). The one thing that really hurts Romeus is that he had trouble against a rookie left tackle. The game last week should have been a dominate performance. He can overcome, but he’ll have to prove himself against big east competition.

Here we go!
Notre Dame – Michigan on NBC, ABC’s either got the CyHawk clash or Fla. St. – OU, and Ohio St. – Miami is on ESPN. Great trio.

FSU about to get blown out if they don’t turn it around ASAP

No way
Too small, and not fast enough for his size. That being said, he could be a usable slot guy. I’d say highest possible, 3rd round.

I mean acceleration-wise. His 40-time should be solid

GO TERPS
it would be so awesome to have my terps start 2-0 and rams go 1-0 this weekend. especially considering i suffered through a combined 3-25 combined record by these 2 last year
that juke brought a tear to my eyes
14-0 terps

Alabama D is brutal
even without Dareus. Royster didn’t look bad that half, but Bolden struggled. Freshman jitters.

UNT!
Now up on Rice. I know TST has no use for UNT stuff, but I gotta rep my rep, no?

Trent Richardson has been impressive
I feel cheated knowing that he’ll have to give up so many carries to Ingram when he returns

oh yeah hes a beast
very physical runner and makes the defenders pay a price at the end of the play. hes like a little sjax

He would be a great backup
for SJ. Certainly better than what we’ve got.
Great?
At this point I’d say replacement. Trent Richardson is by every measurable factor a starting RB. Yes, it’s early, and yes, I’m drunk, but I wouldn’t be incredibly worried if Trent Richardson is drafted in 2011 with the intent of replacing Steven Jackson.

SJax certainly isn't getting any younger after all.
And why not draft his replacement when he’s still got enough left in the tank to actually teach the young man a thing or two?
by Terminus Est on Sep 11, 2010 11:02 PM CDT up reply actions
We haven't had the luxury of drafting his replacement yet
Maybe the ‘11 draft, but as a Rams fan, honestly I don’t think we’ll be able to spend a 2nd/3rd/4th rounder on RB until 2012.

Too true.
And hopefully by 2012, we won’t have a Top 10 draft pick, anyhow. Really, with so many young players in key positions right now it’s hard to gauge just what area we’ll be needing to focus on when the draft comes around this year. We could say WR, but what if Clayton and LR have breakout years? CB, but what if Fletcher steps up and Bartell lives up to that big contract we gave him? LB seems to be looking pretty solid, as does Tackle. Honestly, if I had to make a prediction, I’d say likely a DE since Hall is getting up in age, or a DT since so is Robbins. But it could be a number of things. Just too early to tell really what our needs are going to be.

interesting game
Oregon has two Texan running backs worth paying attention to: LaMichael James and the freshman Lache Seastrunk

LaMichael James
Holy cow is he good. Oregon is a very fast team overall. How about James backing up jackson eh?
He'd be great
but only as a late 2nd/early 3rd draftee. Any higher and I say no. That being said, it is September…

James is one of 3 good ones UO has
Keep an eye on Barner and Alston. This may be the year of the mini-RB. There are 5 in the pac-10 alone I can think of that are 5’ 8" or so but fast and powerful.
Yeah
He’s fun to watch, but holy crap is he a junky QB right now. If he has any intention of making the NFL, he has to put in a TON of work.

Hey 3K do you know when the UNC defense will be reinstated?
I haven’y heard for sure. Last I heard was 3-4 games depending on the investigation outcome and depending on how much I personally want to watch each one play.
3-4 is what I heard as well.
Though I think some of their offensive guys only got 2 games? They were suspended for something else, though. Marijuana and academics, I think.

Personally...
I was upset to hear about AJ Green’s suspension. I was looking forward to seeing him play these next few weeks, and seeing what he could do.
Boy Boise sure took it in the rump tonite
for someone who didn’t play they got hurt awfully bad. i know I feel awful for them. Oh, look, I got over it.
Hmm...
Wonder what you guys would think of a player like Sam Acho in the 2nd or 3rd round.
