Rams training camp: Rams get good news on Bartell

The St. Louis Rams got a scare at last night's practice when their top cornerback, Ron Bartell, was taken off the field with a leg injury. Fortunately for the Rams, an examination today revealed that Bartell suffered a low ankle sprain, which might keep him out for only a week or two.

Here's more information on the low ankle sprain than you'll ever need.

If this news holds, Bartell will likely miss the Rams preseason opener on Aug. 14. Bartell played with a hip injury for most of last season, compromising his effectiveness. Though it stinks that he'll miss important practice time, he shouldn't be too far behind if he only misses a couple weeks.

The silver lining here is that it should give even more snaps for youngsters like Bradley Fletcher, Jerome Murphy, etc.

UPDATE: Bartell might only miss a "couple days" according to GM Billy Devaney who just relayed that info to Bernie Miklasz on the radio. Here's Bernie's tweet:

Rams GM Billy Devaney just told me that CB Ron Bartell is fine. Just a mild ankle sprain. Will miss a couple of days; that's all.

This is great!

IMO Bartell is have a career year, baring injury. Being in the 2nd year in the same defence, having fresh and healthy legs and ankles.

The name's Rams, St. Louis Rams.

You Know, Sometimes...

News stories try to come out WAY to quickly…

8AM – “Rams lose top cornerback! Everyone gets hurt! All the time!”.
1PM – “Oh, umm, he’s really only out for a couple days for a sore ankle. Sorry. My bad. Tee hee.”

I hope he’s lightly jogging on it by tomorrow morning.

Good point Boofer! And another example....

11:45am – “Favre texts teammates saying he’s done”.
(I guess these would be Viking teammates who are AT camp, not high schoolers he’s been working out with)
11:50am – “Favre denies report saying he said anything about not returning. Says it was all just a big misunderstanding.”
11:55am – Favre tells ESPN that he hasn’t decided whether to return or not.
11:58am – Tom Childers’ head explodes

Upon closer inspection, Favre was wearing loafers…

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Word on the street is......

We went from a serious injury, to it being a 2 week injury, to it being a 2-day injury. How about just saying its a 2 week injury so some of us aren’t overly or underly optimistic.

THE RAMS

It seems likke the RAMS have more players on the D.L. yearly then any other team. Is it because of poor preperation for games or they are not in good physical shape due to poor conditioning at training camp?

Neither

Rams have been cursed last several years.Pray the ‘curse’ is dead.
