Feeling Better About Our Offensive Line Yet?

I know I am!   It's not just that the starters are gelling, but the reserves looked good yesterday as well.

Star-divide

So who's gonna make the final roster?  I wasn't gonna put this in the form of a poll, but I guess that's the best way to address it.  The second stringers, Foster, Miller, McKee, Fraley, Trautwein, Allen III, all come to mind when remembering who made a splash, outside of the 1st line of Saffold, Bell, Brown, Goldberg, and Smith.  Can we keep 11 total.  I wish.  I haven't mentioned Joe Gibbs, Eric Young, Tim Mattran, or John Greco whom I think will make the final cut.

So, anyhoo here's how I see it, (subject to injury or change because of performance against the Ravens)

After the starting 5 I like Fraley, Trautwein, Foster, Allen III, and Greco, with the addition of Drew Miller (spot earned yesterday on that 10 minute drive to open the 2nd half and other play towards the end of the game.  He Foster, Fraley, McKee, and Allen all were in on that drive to make it 33-35.  They were all winning their battles.

Offensive line performed terribly against Minnesota,

but that was probably due to some guys playing out of position and very little experience playing together. They’ve performed very well in the past two games.

Logan Mankins

If Stan’s pockets are deep enough, let’s get him.

Otherwise, for a team who are progressing, I think we are okay.

Vikes also have *maybe* the best D line in football

worst match-up they could draw, considering the Rams particular challenges at that time.

Spags used that experiment to prove: (LG_Brown+C_Fraley) < (LG_Bell+C_Brown) and almost burned down the lab in the process.

Ravens

Lets see how the oline handles the Ravens. These guys are much tougher then the Pats.

Positive Yardage

The Rams offensive line controlled the battle of the trenches all day against the “mighty” Patriots. It was good to see us get positive yardage and almost every play we called instead of getting stuffed behind or at the line on run plays and sacked on pass plays. It’s a lot easier to sustain drives with 2nd and 7 instead of 2nd and 11 all the time.

I've got to ask

How is it that every game we play well, people act like it wasn’t a real test and that the next time is. I am not saying the Ravens aren’t tough but the Pats aren’t slouches either. And the Browns were still rated above us…lol. Every team we play is a test. We were the worst of the league. Every time we go out and play better than the other team is a step in the right direction. Yeah I heard Billicheck said he kept his players in as punishment for coming out and playing poorly in the first half but I don’t buy it. I watched the game twice now. I see their defense blitzing like crazy but I see Bradford and our Oline reading it and coming out stronger. He can say whatever he wanted, his starters only left when they had the lead with a little over 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. They were beaten fair and square, not just because of their poor play but moreso because of our strong play.

i am interested to see that too.

Not just because they have a good defense but also because last weeks game let the cat out of the bag that these teams can’t assume we are the 2009 rams. I gaurantee the Raven’s coach and players are taking this game more seriously than they were a week ago.

Rams Vs Patriots

I watched the game on T.V. and while they won the game their front line isn’t very good. I predict that the Q.B.’s will be running for their lives when the season starts. A 3 win season is possible but 3 and 13 isnt anything to cheer about. They need to get another quality reason and I dont know why they dont go after Holt? Is it because they disrespected him and are embarassed? they did Holt and Bruce wrong so they can mend the fence and bring him back!

Holt demanded his release, not the other way around.

They didn’t disrespect him, he disrespected them because he wasn’t getting as many passes as he did with Warner. Holt’s knees are gone and he just can’t do it anymore.

Why do you say their front line isn’t very good? In spite of all the Patriot blitzes it seemed like Bradford had time to get the passes off. And our running game seemed to do pretty well no matter who was in there. What game were you watching?

Well I hear Trautwein nay wind up on DL

Cutting to 10 seems more likely now unless we pick up another FA
