Avery out (possibly), what now?
Hey Rams fans, I am not much of a writer but I wanted to know what everybody's opinion on the options available if Avery is out for the year.
1) We rely on our young group of receivers to step up from the loss of Avery. We have a nice set of young receivers dying to get some reps in, and it might pay off huge in the future to let these guys develop.
2) We bring in another receiver possibly late this month when teams have to cut down their roster. Avery was clearly our most veteran receiver of the bunch, though he might have not shined with the limited action thus far, he still played a major role in the offense and we might struggle without his presence.

Bring in K Curtis
Knows the system and has played with 2 of the greatest receivers ever. Would be a great mentor and still has ability IMO.
If there's a speedster...
I’d say maybe, but realistically most teams hang on to fast guys. Speed is all Avery really had going for him. On the play that took him out, he wasn’t doing much to fool the CB who wasn’t even looking for the ball. I say let Danario work his way up to be our #1.
THIS year's the year. I hope....
we have great young wide receiver depth
to the point that i’m disappointed about avery’s injury, but don’t really think it’s a unit-breaker. this is now how i think it will lineup (or has the potential to lineup as)
1. laurent robinson
2. mardy gilyard
3. danny amendola
4. brandon gibson
5. keenan burton/danario alexander

I really think Keenon should make the cut
He was drafted the same year as Avery right? He knows the system and is now our most veteran receiver?
burton is the most tenured ram, yes.
robinson has the most nfl experience. it actually wouldn’t surprise me to see all six of these guys make the roster.

6'5" 46 inch vertical
He can dunk at a stand still underneath the rim wth ease.
He reminded me of another 81 in the game last night, that is his potential. Big body, good concentration, and deceptively quick. Also punishes opposing tacklers.
Another plus is that he has stated that he wants to work hard and put in extra effort to be a contributor on this Rams team. Very much liking this prospect.
There's no second Avery in the group
This is not a bad group of young receivers, but there’s no one there who has that 200lb size and can flat burn like Avery. Too bad because this is his third year, he was due to emerge this season, and I know he has his detractors but he looked nice in this game before he went down. His 30+something-yard catch was pretty nice. His other one, like 16-yards-ish was good too. He had been maturing physically and both his long catches showed he had finally started to stretch the field for them.
I really like Amendola in the slot and I hope whatever they do, they leave him there. I first thought Gilyard would be giving Amendola a real run for his money in that spot, but 3K was right about him, his hands aren’t reliable enough (yet). I’d like to see him left there where he will probably see a ton of targets.
Denario – probably a couple of months away at very best. Vince Jackson – has a different skillset and more suited as an upgrade to Robinson than a replacement for Avery. I have to say, I am unimprssed with Robinson so far…
Judging from how they’ve handled the other roster spots, I think the chances of Devaney acquiring a respected deep threat are slim.
