Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Brian Westbrook is expected to sign with the Rams on Monday. I hope this actually happens. This will bring us much more certainty from our backup RB. Now Ogbonnaya (or whoever makes is) is just a 3rd stringer. Westbrook is familiar with the offense, the Rams are said to be offering more money than anyone else, and he feels he could be a leader for the team and aid in Bradford's development. I hope this works out.

Actually, if Steven Jackson isn't THE leader...

…I’m wondering who you think it is? I pray you don’t say Sam Bradford.

Oh crap I'm super confused then.

My apologies.

That said, this will be Sam’s team soon enough. I just thought you were saying that it isn’t Steven’s team now (it wasn’t clear).

As far as Westbrook, if this works out, I hope he’s in shape and if he is, it’s an awesome addition at the very least from a versatility standpoint.

I understand how you could get that confused.

I hope Sam takes a strong leadership role ASAP, but I don’t know that he’ll ever be able to surpass Jackson while Jackson is still on the team and producing. Co-leaders is what they’d be if they are both producing at the same time.

anyone watching the game on the net tonight?

Where can I watch the game on the net tonigh?. They aren’t showing it here in Springfield.

Try

going to atdhe.net. They’ll probably have it there.

I'm trying to find it too.

Will atdhe have it on delay? They’re usually quite reliable but it’ll also depend on what time it is aired originally.

I'm not sure

They already have the link up on Atdhe, but it is just the colorful bars. If they use the Minnesota broadcast it should be live I think. I think I’m going to wait until 10:30 to watch it though. Less lag and better picture. I just hope they don’t have a commercial for the 6 AM news saying “Coming up, why Sam Bradford has the entire NFL bowing to him.”

Lol.

If this doesn’t pan out, I’ll have to stay the hell away from TST, ESPN, and any news outlets till it airs on NFL Network tomorrow. I’ll also have to ignore the score reports on the NFL Network ticker.

I'd love to have a Kurt/Marshall or 2006 Marc/Steven thing going.

With Sam and Steven. I think Sam would have to catch up in 2 years or less, which is possible considering his gym-rat nature. Imagine our offense if a receiver emerges.

I’d say the likeliest candidates would be Brandon Gibson/Laurent Robinson. The size gives them the chance to do it that Avery/Gilyard probably don’t have. I’m not saying they can’t be great receivers (see DeSean Jackson), but most of the elite wideouts today are big physical types rather than speed guys. Gibson/Robinson fit that bill more.

This should be interesting to watch for the next couple of years.

I'm not buying the leadership reasons

although I’m sure he will add something, but it is more to do with money by the seems of it.

by RamintheUK on Aug 14, 2010 3:06 PM CDT up reply actions

its money

no doubt if he does sign. He would defiantly be a great upgrade over Darby even if he is very injury prone. Also the guy has great hands Bradford can really jack up his stats throwing it to brain and using his elusiveness. Jacksons are man but we really have to take a load off his back and having brian is a great way to save Steven but still have a competitive football season.

Just listened to Sando's linked audio

from the John Clayton Show. Good stuff.

Clayton floats the idea of an offense in which Jackson get’s 20 carries, Westbrook gets 10, which eases pressure on Bradford to complete around 15-17 passes.

SJ39 1st, Westbrook second, Ogbannaya Kenobi third, Darby practice squad, Toston cut.

That’s how I see it working out if he does indeed sign. If he doesn’t, I think Kenobi is second and Darby third, Toston on the practice squad.

Darby can't go on the practice squad

He’s been on the active roster too long.

I just don't see why we would put 4 running backs on the roster.

Are you suggesting that in the case that we do get Westbrook, it might make more sense to put Toston on the PS because he’s a rookie and just cut Darby. I’m fine either way, I don’t think Darby’s very good, but I do think he’s better than Toston for now.

Yea

Cut Darby, keep Ogbonnaya and cut or PS Toston.

should sign

i hope we sign him. He should catch some passes out the backfield and break a 20 yarder or 2… He will give Bradford a safety cushion and give SJ39 a breather

by RamzOwn94 on Aug 14, 2010 4:17 PM CDT reply actions

I'm really excited about that

He is the 3rd down back we’ve been looking for since Leonard failed. He will help Bradford a lot.
