Preseason polling

John Morgan, the head writer at Field Gulls, released his season preview for SBN yesterday; it's eerily realistic, and shouldn't upset Rams fans...unlike some other season previews.

For this installment of preseason polling, the question is simple: who do you think will win the NFC West this season?  Use the comments to explain your vote, especially if you vote for the Seahawks.

Why don't you think the Niners can't win?

You can’t say QB uncertainty, because that’s a wash between SF & ARI.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

AZ is still the favorite? Even without Warner?

I guess you think the Vikings are Super Bowl bound this year, even if Favre doesn’t come back? Too bad we didn’t trade for Leinart, since he can carry a team.

I can see a pro-Arizona argument

I just don’t think it would have anything to do with the QB position. In fact, you probably have to argue that the team will overcome the uncertainty at QB with their other units.

Fine...

Let’s say the QB is not a factor in how good the team is ah-la the ‘01 Ravens, ’03 Bucs or ’07 Bears. I don’t think the 2011 Cardinals resemble those teams.

And that's a fair argument against

I didn’t vote for Arizona, I’m just saying using the QB as the crux of an argument for or against any of the teams in the NFC West won’t pass muster. Now pass the mustard.

Like ive been Sayin i hope Bradford can have that Matty Ice like rookie season

but i voted for the 49ers because in all realism its there division to lose

Probably 49ers

They have some weapons at WR, I mean Ted Ginn in the slot,, Michael Crabtree on the outside/ Then you have a stingy defense. If they lose Gore again they are in trouble. I need to make me an NFC West preview……………………… Sometime after preseason though.

You're not buying on Glen Coffee?

2.7 yards per carry

I don’t know why everyone was talking about how good he was last year.
83 carries for less than 226 yards and 1 TD. I don’t think that quite measures up to Gore’s numbers.

Onubon > Gates

I'm not saying he was

I was just raising the question. Don’t forget about Anthony Dixon either. Great value for a 6th rounder.

i like coffee, people forget 9ers have josh morgan opposite crab, nice big wr.

49ers will win it this year i think, az second, us 3rd seahawks bottom. no d or o line. no rbs. olddddd qb.

Bradford to Onobun!

I think it would be a dropoff.

Plus who knows how Alex Smith will play when the game is on his shoulders?

by Tevin T. Broner on Aug 10, 2010 7:12 AM CDT reply actions

Oh sure,

Gore’s a surer bet than Coffee, but I don’t think it’d be as big as losing Crabtree, for example. And like every QB in the NFC West, noone can predict how Alex Smith will fare this year.

NFC-W is the Niner's Division to Lose

The Niner’s have a good, stingy defense to keep them in most games. On Offense, there are some question marks on the OL but they have a great RB in Frank Gore, a good TE in Vernon ‘the lip’ Davis and excellent WR’s in Ginn and Crabtree. The big question mark is Alex Smith, can he get the ball to his receivers? Most media types don’t think so and that’s why the Niner’s are not expected to take the division crown in a cakewalk.

‘Zona’ lost five starters including a future HOF’er in Kurt Warner. Leinart is no Warner. ‘Zona’ will fall from grace inspite of the fact Coach Whiz beefs up the running game.

Nobody expects too much out of the young Rams. They will play ball, have fun and step on a few of the big boy’s toes. Confidence will grow and the Rams will develop into a team to be reckoned with.

Kinda silly

I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.

Kinda TSTish

I like some good overconfidence from the faithful. Granted I voted for the Niners, but still. I like it. Now for 2011, I might have to join em.

yeah i love the enthusiam but c'mon now

sure we added some players at key positions with great potential, we have one of the best RBs in the NFL, a great coach and a very weak division with question marks for every team but still we went 1-15 last year and our young players need more time to grow and build chemistry. i expect a better season but we are not ready to take the division.

HOW THE NFC WEST WILL BE WON

The west is going to be won off the back of the best QB in the NFC west. I think Alex Smith is a bust. He is going drive the niners right into the ground. The Seahawks are going to fall apart soon because the winds of change is coming. Arizona Is the team to beat in the NFC west. The Rams has a chance to take control of the NFC west by beating Arizona in the first game of the season. Who Will Win The West, Go Rams ………..
