Danario Alexander taking a physical for the Rams: Random Ramsdom, 7/28
Today, the St. Louis Rams kick off training camp when rookies, QBs and a few select others report. The long wait is over. Football season is here. There's some news to pass along as well, so let's get right in.
Danario Alexander visits the Rams on Monday. He'll also take a physical, and if everything checks out the Rams might have another wide receiver in the mix this month.
As expected, it's all over but the shootin' for a deal between the Rams and second round pick OT Rodger Saffold. His agents flew to STL last night and the ink will start drying this morning.
Spagnuolo is planning fewer live tackling sessions for camp this year. I wonder about that decision. The Rams defense, for all their faults, were one of the best teams in the league in terms of broken tackles. As far as a lighter camp workload for Steven Jackson, that's a pretty smart idea. Why put excess wear and tear on those tires; he knows how to do his job.
Mark your calendars, 3k and I are hosting a very special episode of Turf Show Radio. It's really more of a conference call, but I'll get into that tonight on the air. Show starts at 6 p.m. Central...call-in info to follow.

Danario
4.4 40 and a 41.5" Vertical Leap.
He can get very close to 10 feet off the ground before you even factor in his arms. I want him even more.

Either Missouri listed his vertical a lot higher than it was, or he can't jump much anymore.
41.5 is still very good, but he was listed with a 46" vertical in college. Also, he’s 6’5", meaning that if you throw a ball anywhere near him, he can probably reach it.
If you give a man a fish and he'll stink up the whole town. However, give a man a fishing rod and he'll poke your eye out.
I'd have to think Mizzou listed too high
Only one NBA player has had a 46" inch vertical and it was Spud Webb. LeBron and Jordan both have/had 44" verticals. 41.5" is great. That’s higher than Kobe, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Allen Iverson, and Julius Erving can jump. I wish he could have participated in the NFL combine, so we can get betterproof of those numbers. 41.5" is insane. Because he also ran a faster forty and Maclin did at the combine.
Despite the believability of those measurements, I still want him since he could probably get close to those measurements at the combine and he’s just a beast.

I'm thinking the same...
At 6’5’’, 215 lbs with a 4.4 40, it makes sense to at least sign the guy and check him out. Plus he played in a big time conference and performed extremely well his senior season.
Why St. Louis will appeal to Danario Alexander
“Alexander is probably ticketed for a practice squad in year one, but he’s a worthwhile project” If Alexander believes this, the Rams look like an appealing place to make the roster right away. He’s also familiar with the area.
Can’t wait for TSR
