T.O or Danari- O?

Sorry for the horrible title but I could not resist.

It seems we are in the market for more WR's. It was evident last season that poor WR play coupled with dreadful QB play

(Evidence for anyone who wants to say it was not the QB's fault is here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiJxhD-uYkc (the blame MUST be shared)

Now we have openly stated interest in two free agent WR's - Danario Alexander (undrafted rookie- led nation in receiving- has a mushy knee) and Terrell Owens (sure fire hall of fame WR, 'QB ruiner and egoist', cries for his QB's)

My question is, who would you rather have and why?

Proven talent in T.O or wildcard UDFA Danari-O?

If we can only get one, it's Alexander.

T.O. would make us a better team this year, but in the long run T.O. does nothing for us. Alexander could possibly do nothing ever, but there’s a chance that he can help us a lot in the long run and help us contend for the playoffs when we get to that point. I don’t think Owens is a risk due to his reputation—he’s been trying very hard to mend that reputation for being a locker room cancer—but his actual play wouldn’t do too much for us after this season.

I’d prefer we get both.

If you give a man a fish and he'll stink up the whole town. However, give a man a fishing rod and he'll poke your eye out.

I agree if we can only have one then get alexander

However, I am for both. I think TO has matured and is the big physical possession receiver we need. Alexander is a big boom or bust player. The guy is a beast but is injury prone(would fit in with our guys quite well). Alexander is the better route to go here because he is young and TO is better suited for a team in contention now and he can complement them. By the time we are a contending team TO will be retired.

I agree

Although I don’t know if there’s room for both. That would mean splitting reps between 12 receivers. I’m guessing Kent would just be let go before preseason. But that’s still a lot of reps to go around.

I think there's a bit too much hype about Alexander.

He’ll be playing on turf and wasn’t the best WR prospect before his latest injury. He lacks breakout speed and will need time to become accustomed to the NFL game. I just don’t think he’s going to be a savior for the team without strong mentoring or the chance to be eased into the lineup behind experienced veterans.

Still, I don’t see why people don’t want us to sign him. I ’m sure we can find room for him because of his upside and the numbers he put up.

Keith Null won't accept my friend requests.

but if we pass on him

I think you are right that he will probably never be a great NFL player – but if we pass on him and he does become a great player we will never hear the end of it. I say take a chance. It’ not like we have a lot to lose.

Mentoring

Couldn’t we utilise Isaac Bruce on that front?

I’m not sure of his coaching credentials, but IMO there isn’t a better mentor in every aspect of WR play that anyone could have right now. There must be a role for him around our WR corp somewhere.

apparently we don't want him as a coach

because he used to promote ducking out of bounds and spags wants his wr’s to be physical (hence why we have a squad of number 2’s and slots lol!)

Are you serious?

Him and Torry both used to do that…I thought it was smart to duck cause you prevent injury.

by Blood Red Pred on Jul 26, 2010 5:39 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah, and isaac swore by having a prosperous long career

but spags wants guys like marshall who don’t give a flying fcuk! lol and just get the ball and fight for every inch…

That's a little disappointing...

but I’m still a Spags fan…unconditional love :) LOL

Rams have scheduled visit with Danario Alexander

Visit should basically be a physical and will come on Monday.
As far as I know, we’re the only team with a scheduled visit, but I’m not sure.
