UNGA for FB.....not RB
We had a Brian Leonard version of this kind of player, didn't we?
If the Rams pick him as the #2 RB...I'm not that interested in giving up anything before the 6th round. Unga looked pretty shifty for a big man in the Vids that I saw. But Unga is a pounder w/wiggle...not the speed & change-of-pace RB the Rams need. imho
He's a slow/average HB...but has the potential to be a very good FB....a guy who can catch out of the backfield and make a guy miss. He is good for short yardage too...although they said he has some injury issues.
HOWEVER,
as it currently stands, the Rams current FB, Mike Karney, is paid an exorbitant salary(3 mil per yr to block and drop flair passes.) If the Rams intentions are to cut Karney, and make Unga the new FB - essentially the Rams' version of the Eagles' Leonard Weaver,
....then, I'm all for it and would be willing to give a 4th, at most...but not a 3rd!
(remember the Eagles signed Weaver last year and he went to the Pro-Bowl - IIRC)...

High as a 3rd rounder
Most likely though he will net a 5th or 6th

Shurmer has to "use" his FB more than a blocker if Unga is to fill that position.
Karney did OK in 2006 and named to 2nd team all-pro when he got some touches but he is older and really is “just a blocker” for a power running team. And I think his contract is only 1.2mil/yr (3yrs @ 3.6 mil) and has two years left.
Besides, SJax prefers to “make” his own holes. He does not like to slow down for a blocking back ;-)
BTW-when is power running and WCO synonymous?
CORRECTION:
I’m completely wrong on the Karney contract….it’s only 1.2 mil/per year…not 3 mil.
…but the dropped passes were correct!!! lol
thanks for the correction RBramfan

I was disappointed in Karney last year.
He may be a good blocker, although I didn’t see that many plays where he cleared the way, but he was a disaster as a safety valve receiver. The few times he did manage to catch the pass he was so slow the defense got to him before he could get past the line of scrimmage.
