Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hovan has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams.

Posted by Michael David Smith on June 9, 2010 7:41 AM ET Free agent defensive tackle Chris Hovan has found a new home. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hovan has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams. Hovan started all 16 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009, but the Bucs released him in April, after they chose defensive tackles in the first and second rounds of the draft. The 32-year-old Hovan played his first five seasons with the Vikings after Minnesota selected him in the first round of the 2000 draft. He has played the last five seasons with the Bucs.

Seriously the FO just keeps on beefing up the interior. Robbins, hovan, Ryan, and Scott doesn’t sound too bad. It’s not suh but it’ll do.

Nah.

I’m sure it’s just a depth move in case our OTs* get injured during the season.

*not a typo.

THIS year's the year. I hope....

The only hope with Hovan

is that he says Tampa wanted him to be the nose guard type, eating up blocks so others can get to the ball, and he isn’t big enough to do that. He is a quicker, penetrating type DT who might help pressure the passer. If that doesn’t happen, it’s hard to see how much help he can be. Still, can he be any worse than some of the nobodies we played there last year?

Perhaps an upgrade over Douzable/Ramsey

I think its basically a competition between him and Gibson, unless we keep 5 DTs.
