Hey, if beer tells me to do it... In actuality, this is a pretty good post idea given Isaac Bruce's announcement last week that he would be retiring. If you're looking at some of the greatest duos in Rams history, Isaac Bruce almost certainly has to be part of the conversation.

Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt paired together made one of the most dangerous receiving duos in the league from 1999 through 2007. Sure, both had some ups and downs along the way, but their presence together on the field almost always made the Rams offense a  threat to win the game...except in that rough season of 2007. But even then the pair combined for almost 2,000 yards.

In five of their nine seasons together they each recorded 1000+ yard seasons. 1999 was the only season that Bruce had more yards than Holt, but that was a minor thing as together their potency became the stuff of legend.

Those days are gone now, and the young receivers on the roster now have a long way to go. If another tandem like that emerges the Rams will be set for another nine seasons.

It was a lot of fun

watching Bruce and Holt carve up defenses week after week. Try to take away one of them and the other would kill you. We always knew we had a chance to score when they were out there. Having the benefit of watching them, it makes it harder to see our current receivers struggle to get open and catch the ball.

This tandem ranks right up there with Kirk and Spock, Lennon and McCartney, Lee and Ditko, etc.

But the Rams were blessed great depth too in the form of Az Hakim and Ricky Proehl. Ernie Conwell was a good TE and Marshall could run and catch too. My gosh, with Warner throwing to these guys we were just one head coach away from winning another couple Super Bowls.
