In typical Alex Barron fashion, he had a flight scheduled for Dallas but accidentally tried to board an earlier flight.

Finally!!!!!!!!
Not too get religious on here but for those of you who are atheist I have proof that there is a GOD. Yes I’ve been praying for a while now to have Barron removed from our team and now the Lord has finally answered my prayers Amen.
This can't be true
it’s too funny
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
Gents,
You’re not getting Dick Butkus in this trade. Carpenter should be a better LB in the 4/3, but I think he’ll only be a backup or maybe a nickel LB at best. I think Dallas is getting about the samething in Barron, the trade seems to be good for both.
Actually...
I’d say we’re gaining about 10-20 yards from penalties a game with him gone.
We are well aware of that.
But this team is devoid of talent. Any chance, big or small, of upgrading that is always a win.
The House of Spears reigns supreme
I just heard on the local 101 ESPN
that Carpenter is coming off shoulder surgery this off-season. Looks like we’re trading mentally damaged goods for physically damaged goods. I’m liking this trade less and less.
I'm not a Barron fan at all....
but I’m not exactly rejoicing about this trade. I understand that a lot of people want to let him go, but that doesn’t change much about what we got for him.
We traded a starter (I would say an average NFL tackle) with no injury history and a penchant for penalties for a non starter coming off an injury who may be miscast with his current defense.
Again, I’m not panning the trade but to me the Cowboys are clearly getting the better end of the deal. I am fine seeing Barron go, but I don’t think it is worth it to trade him for what we are getting. I would have asked for their RB Tashard Choice as well.
It's been said before and it bears repeating ...
… we traded one year of Alex Barron.
Sure, it might only be for one year of Bobby Carpenter, but it might be for a solid LB for a few years.
Many of you talked about this team having to start taking chances. Drafting Bradford over Suh is risky. Trading Barron for Carpenter is also risky. However, like Bradford over Suh, Carpenter MAY be a better player for us than Barron (higher ceilings) and if so, we’ll likely keep him for awhile. If not, we were only keeping Barron for one more year anyway so the worst case is that we don’t lose much.
I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.
What's risky is manning the Tackle position with 1 rook & 1 half-rook
Having them be the primary edge blockers for a RB coming off back surgery and a probably rookie QB is a big risk.
The whole issue of who Barron is and his penalties aside (because I’m no fan of his), looking at this year’s O-line and who they are blocking for…yeah, I’d agree there’s a healthy dose of risk.
Rookies have in the past done quite well at the tackle positions
Michael Oher, Joe Thomas, Jake Long. Granted…they are all quite good players but, I feel as though the two young tackles have quite a good chance to do well this year.
The House of Spears reigns supreme
minor risk
I think Saffold will be identical to Barron in his current state right now. So pretty much we got a linebacker who did not fit in Dallas and would benefit from a 4-3 defense for a guy who would penalize us and not show any effort. Let’’s just hope “Barbie” Carpenter sheds his nickname and becomes a Nfl linebacker
theres No way Saffold steps right in and plays to Barrons level
#Not saying he won’t at some point, but for this year that’s not just realistic.
Along with a couple of players given as examples, there names of guys who didn’t come in and play better than Barron. Probably more.
I’m fairly amazed yu guys really drank that much KoolAide, and think a 2nd rounder will step in and replace yur teams top Tackle and looks just as good, especially after seeing JSmith last year (and Chris Long too.) I think you guys are a little high and I want some!

For those hating this trade
Do you really want Barron in the locker room with Saffold?
I like this trade. Do I wish we could have gotten more? Of course! Bottom line is, no one wants Barron (aside from Dallas I guess) so we’re lucky to have gotten anything honestly.
Barron is an average tackle… maybe even slightly below average. Last year he did have a couple good (not great) games, but I can also count several games where we whiffed SEVERAL blocks, many leading to sacks, QB pressures, hits etc.
While we didn’t get a Lawrence Taylor, we at least got SOMETHING.. good news is, he is rated high against the pass (defending TE over the middle), as well as special teams.
As I recall, weren’t we all bitching about these two areas last year?
Hats off to management for getting SOMETHING for Mr. Yellow Flag, and that something actually fills a need.

in my opinion
The RAMS just “fleeced” the Cowgirls.
Barron was a mistake. And just like Incognito, we will be a better team without him.
I understand the need for depth on the OL. But I do not believe Barron was the answer.
And apparently management didn’t either.
