Random Ramsdom, 5/4: Softli leaving the Rams?
A pleasant Tuesday morning to you Rams fans. If you're taking finals this week like ram_rod, we wish you all the best. Remember, it's important that you graduate and get a job so you can sit at a desk and come to TST and talk St. Louis Rams all day in the future. On with the links...
Meet EJ Reid
The Rams brought University of Mary (North Dakota) DT EJ Reid to rookie camp on a tryout basis, and announced yesterday that they signed him to a contract. The 6'2" 320 lbs Reid played DE in the 3-4 in college. He profiles as a DT in the Rams 4-3. Adam Carriker who?
Killing them Softli
Hired in the summer of 2006, director of player personnel Tony Softli received permission from the Rams to look for other jobs. He and Scott Linehan were responsible for the 2007 draft.

Who’s with me?
The House of Spears reigns supreme
I actually heard that theory in different words from a psych teacher. Some philosophy of human motivation or something. Not that that makes it legit..
But a teach' said it...
It has to be right.
Or that’s what I’ve been told from my profs around here…
The House of Spears reigns supreme
There may be a reason it
isn’t done this way – but I’ve always hoped that the links would open in a new window, so I don’t have to try the back button on my crappy work computer. Any chance that you change it to work that way in the future?
I know how to do it in Wordpress, I’m not sure if it’s a problem on this platform. Mocking the Draft does seem to have them open in a new window.
Just a thought. It might also encourage people to stay on your site/page, if you care about that. Thanks.
There is an option to do so, yes
I’d change it to that, but only Van and 3k have that kind of power. I’ll let him know though.
The House of Spears reigns supreme
i'm working on it
i used the clipper tool on the backend of the site and it defaults to opening links that way.

Right click, open in new tab...?
I like opening in same window if it’s a link to somewhere else within TST.
Outside, I always check the new window option,.
I don't want to start an argument, but ..
some folks on here don’t want to believe Seattle and San Francisco had better drafts than the Rams. While it is true that we won’t know for sure for three years or so, it is interesting that the consensus of the raters is that both Seattle and San Fran had far better drafts than the Rams. I suspect if we had picked Navarro Bowman with our 3rd round pick instead of another CB our ratings might have been higher. I guess we’ll find out in the fullness of time, as the poet says.
Grading in retrospect
Is there any site that shows what these guys thought about the 2007 draft (for example)? We could see their comments in ’07, and see how it has worked out now that the rookies had time to develop. This way, we may see some high grades given to teams that struck out, or vice-versa.
I just saw
on SBN somewhere, one of the communities went back and looked at the “experts” 2007 draft grades. Funny stuff. I’m working on my 2011 2-round mock, then I’ll revisit my earliest 2010 mock to look at how difficult it is to grade prospects a year out.
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Does anyone think this scout has any idea what he's doing?
Softli’s results were almost criminal. It’s amazing just how wrong he and Linehan and the rest of them could be about so many players. You’d think they would get lucky and hit on one guy at least (with all due respect to Clifton Ryan). They could’ve thrown darts and had better results.
