Chicago still collecting ex-Rams?
Trent Green, remember him? If you were able to grind your way through the St. Louis Rams 2009 season, you probably last saw Green in the announcers booth where he was one of Fox Sports' Sunday NFL crews.
Set to do more broadcast work for the upcoming season, Green may have another option available to him: rejoining Mike Martz in Chicago. A suburban Chicago paper explains:
A source close to Green said Green talked with the Bears three or four weeks ago and decided to remain in retirement, but the situation might be fluid. Another former Martz protege, Josh McCown, also has been mentioned.
"All of those guys ... can still play," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "Having one of those guys on the team would probably make the team better...
Hmm, if I were a Bears fan I wouldn't like the sound of that.
Green finished his career, or so we thought, with the Rams in 2008, playing in three games, throwing 6 INTs and 0 TDs.
Yes, it's a slow day, we're talking about Trent Green.

Why don't they just get Bulger?
If Martz is trying to bring in a Veteran who knows his system, who better than the man that he took from 3rd string to Pro-Bowl. I would think Bulger would be better than both of the other 2 names mentioned.
couldn't agree more...
why in the hell are you reaching for Trent Green when Bulger is available???? The Bears have a reputation of being on the cheap side, though they have been big spenders in the last couple of years in free agency. They can afford to get a decent backup. Whoever that guy is, he isn’t going to play much behind Cutler.
Like maybe, I dunno...
for the same reasons we like, don’t have Bulger, is like, why he didn’t like, pick up Bulger.
Bringing in Trent for preseason isn’t going to work since Kurt said he’s staying retired. Other teams already know that trick, time for “Plan B” Mike.
Gayle Sayers is gonna love this idea.
block! building kick! exploooooooosion!
