Random Ramsdom: 5/13/2010
- Van took a look at the stats behind Alex Barron's false starts, but Mike Sando takes more in depth look beyond just the numbers.
- Brian Cushing kept his award. Look on the bright side- James Laurinaitis had one vote this time around!
- It's something that has been tossed around quite a bit, but Jeff at Rams Gab takes a look at the Eagles offense and how it compares to what the Rams are trying to accomplish.
- If you don't like Bobby Carpenter, there is another linebacker the Rams could go for...Shawne Merriman.
- Bill Coats takes an in-depth look at the only Rams player on the roster to pass for more then 10,000 yards in college. Is it just me, or does he look like Byron Leftwhich?
- Last but not least, what do you think Shahid Khan is thinking right now?

Gee, What kind of message does that send
to young kids in sports who look up to football players as role players. What in the hell good does it do to reward those who don’t pass the NFL drug tests? I think it’s very sad and in my opinion shame on those sports writers that allowed it to happen. Sorry, but that’s the way I feel.
Go Rams!
"We can't run. We can't pass. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't kick. Other than that, we're just not a very good football team right now." --- Bruce Coslett, New York Jets Head Coach circa 1990s
Couldn't agree more
As far as i’m concerned if you fail a drug test and fail in your appeal then you shouldn’t even be in the consideration for any individual awards.

also, it's always the sports writers who are up in arms over guys who test positive
here they had a chance to make their difference and they chose not to.

To my knowledge...
this has never really come up before…we’ve seen record breakers in baseball have their numbers come into question, but in football, I don’t think this has ever happened. It will be interesting, going forward, to see if post season awards get yanked, retroactively, if a recipient fails a drug test…it’s bound to happen again.
The NFL likes to talk about how tough their drug policy is,
but this isn’t the first time someone suspended for PEDs had received an award. The stories I’ve seen have mentioned Julius Peppers back in 2002 or so, and at least one other case. Until the NFL has a hard and fast rule that those suspended for PEDs are ineligible for any and all awards, nothing will get fixed.
Part of the issue
was that the award is an AP award, not NFL. Ergo, it’s the AP’s stance on PED’s that really comes into play.
From what I’ve read, Cushing won’t be Pro Bowl eligible this next season, or most other NFL honors.
THIS year's the year. I hope....
