Arizona interested in Bulger?
When the St. Louis Rams released Marc Bulger - he asked to be released after Sam Bradford's successful workout - it was widely believed that he'd find work rather quickly as a veteran presence backing up a young QB. Well, how about backing up Matt Leinart?
That's the latest rumor concerning the former Rams QB. But it's not the first time the Cardinals have been mentioned as a destination.
It would be interesting to see how the next period of Bulger's career looks. Can he rejuvenate himself playing on a better team with more offensive weapons? How quickly can he make an impact? Can he make an impact?
Whether or not he would even start in AZ is still up in the air, as is, you know, him actually going there.

I'd actually love to see this.
Fail or succeed, this would settle the debate regarding whether or not it was his fault the offense failed.

Me too...
…I love how the Rams inept offense was the fault of Bulger. The lack of offensive line, good WRs, and good coaching was his fault..

When you point one finger at someone...
you usually have 3 pointing right back at you. Forget the fact that at the start of Bulger’s career, he was surrounded by 2 HOF receivers, a HOF runningback, and had a HOF left tackle blocking his blind side. If thats what it takes for him to succeed then he’s no better than a career back-up. He greatest weaknesses are his arm strength, leadership ability, and indecisiveness when under heavy pressure. Those are metrics most starting QBs must have in order to succeed and stay starting. If you have to point at every other position on the offense to explain why the team had a poor passing offense, then maybe the problem truly does lie with the player thats being defended in this instance. I don’t think the Rams will have to worry about Bulger like they did against Warner, the only thing both QBs have in common is good accuracy and that it.
Truth be told - I don't care where he goes....
He strikes no fear in me.
That and anywhere he goes – even if it is to a team that ends up beating the Rams next year…it really doesn’t matter anyway. The Rams aren’t “suppossed” to be competitive next year at this stage of the rebuilding anyway – especially if they are grooming a new QB.
Bottom line is that he just isn’t a good fit for the team’s direction anymore (punctuated by the contract). Now if he is beating us 5 years from now, well then its a problem – but I can’t picture that in my wildest nightmares (as I could have when Warner was let go).
Baseball season is back - Go Halos!
Let's put it this way
Bulger, playing on a team with a league average, or better, O-line AND league average, or better, WRs, is going to look a hell of a lot better than he did with the Rams.
If he can stay healthy, that is.
Bulger is very good when ...
… he compliments the rest of the team.
He is not a cornerstone though. Once the Rams started sucking, his play dropped.
He’s an above average QB. Not an elite QB.
Yes, I actually wore a watermelon on my head during the Rams SuperBowl victory in 2000.
He will do great...
… behind a good offensive line and a good set of WRs that run their routes correctly. I wish him well but I hope he doesn’t join a team in the NFC West…

Big shocker. Conflicting reports:
Per Rotoworld:
According to beat writer Kent Somers, the Cardinals are not among the teams that have thus far expressed interested in free agent Marc Bulger.
“And it didn’t sound like the Cardinals were going to be in hot pursuit, either,” added Somers. Profootballtalk had previously reported that Arizona could have an interest, but Somers’ source indicates they’re not in the market for another veteran. Now that the Cards have signed Derek Anderson, they “love” his arm strength and believe his accuracy can be coached up.
Marc,
I knew Kurt Warner, I watched Kurt Warner play, I idolized Kurt Warner. Marc, you’re no Kurt Warner. You may not even be a Trent Dilfer. Good Luck.
