Rams-Redskins Mega Trade
It wouldn't be an Amp Lee post if it wasn't nuckin' futs, but I don't care and it, actually, makes sense for both sides. Here goes:
Rams trade: 1st overall pick, Adam Carriker, pick #163, and cash (off set some bonus money)
Redskins trade: 4th pick, Albert Haynesworth, Jason Cambell, and Andre Carter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Skins have a wide variety of options with the #1. From most realistic to least, they could take Russell Okung and have a franchise OT to protect McNabb and others for the next decade. OR they could replace Albert Haynesworth and his shitty attitude about playing the nose in a 3-4 with Ndmakong Suh. OR they could take Sam Bradford and have McNabb groom him for a year or two before he dominates the world. Choices abound and Lil Fat Danny Snyder loves new shiny and expensive toys. He'd be happy as a lil piggy in slop with all these options. And, please, money hasn't and won't be a problem for him with having the burden of the #1 overall.
Although he's been nursing his hoo-haa the last few years, a healthy Adam Carriker gets to play in a scheme he was designed for: a 3-4 DE. Good times for the Skins, good riddance from the Rams.
The Skins wash their hands of potential weirdness with Jason Cambell and wish him a fine fairwell. Ditto, Andre Carter.
Lacking draft picks, the Skins are able to pick up a late fifth rounder and do what they wish for what they need.
A little cash gets sent their way to chip in for the $21 million roster bonus they just threw at AH.
Conclusion: The Skins now have the best position in the draft to fill much needed holes with the best player available, and, at the same time, rid their roster of players who don't fit into their schemes and chemistry. They also add a draft pick and pick up a little cash to make it worth their while. Skins happy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rams improve their DLine by eleventy billion percent. Albert Haynesworth and Andre Carter go back to their 4-3 scheme and allow Chris Long to become the new and improved Kyle Vanden Bosh. Leonard Little reads that these guys have been added and possibly thinks to himself, "Know what? I'll do another year if THIS is what we got!" Spags finally has solid to great players for starters AND depth at all 4 positions and then sits down quietly at his desk and sobs like Rudy reading the letter that tells him he's getting into Notre Dame.
Speaking of Notre Dame.......... with the #4 overall selection the St. Louis Rams draft Jimmy Clausen! Or will we? WAS, DET, and TB don't need QBs. I don't think it would be too far fetched to find Handsome Sammy Bradford still sitting there after 3 picks. "But teams can trade up, dude!" one yells at me. Well, that's true. So if the earth shifted off its axis and both QBs would be gone we would still have Jason Cambell. Teams can do a lot worse than Cambell and Feely. Like, say... Bulger and Boller. Ouch! But for giggles, let's say they take Bradford or Clausen. Being tutored by both Feely and Cambell is a sweet position to be in for a rookie. Hell, they could afford to watch from the bench for a year or two and be even more prepared when their name is called. So in one year we could go from Bulger-Boller-Null to Cambell-Feely-Bradford/Clasuen. Wow.
Let's say we don't take a QB #4, Let's say we are happy enough to stick with Cambell and Feely. We can take a flyer on a QB in the 4th or 5th rounds to develop like Dan LeFevour or Jarret Brown. Now we can get an ultimate weapon on either defense: S/KR/PR Eric Berry, or offense: WR Dez Bryant or RB/KR/PR C.J. Spiller. All of a sudden, we look like a team that could do some damage on any given week. Now we can sit back with our 33rd pick and either trade it for TE Greg Olsen or grab the best OT available for depth and insurance. In fact, our first 3 rounds can be used solely on improving our offense. Rams elated!

I'm in.
How many letters to we need to write to Devaney and Snyder to make this happen?
THIS year's the year. I hope....
Throw in Null
Unsure of who the Redskins back-up is, but we wouldn’t need 5 QBs on our roster with Campbell, Bradford/Clausen, and Feeley.
The more likely scenario is Carter for Carriker and a 7th. Then, the Rams could select the BPA in either DT, OT, or TE in round 2. Heck, let’s not forget we don’t have a real FS signed to this team yet.
Nucking futs indeed...
…after reading it over, I like it. If Spags can get that fat Albert playing as well as he’s capable of…well…that’ll be massive ownage. As a matter of fact, James Laurinaitis will be in Spags’ office crying with him because at long last, he won’t have to look to avoid O-Lineman on everydown the way Bulger looks to avoid D-Lineman everydown.
This’ll never happen in hell or heaven, but I like it.

Once we've got the 4th overall pick
why not trade it and our 2nd to Denver for their 1st, 6th (I wanted to say 5th but they dont have one) and Marshall.
We’d only need to find a TE, OLB (or 2), RB and potentially a S within our 10 picks and we might find our way to competing.
Of course, like the original post this is not going to happen, but it would be great for immediate impact.
As long as we end up with a qb(Bradford or Clausen)
and Marshall, I’m all in. Though that sounds like a lot of money to be paid to all these guys.
Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
Shanahan's smarter than our guys, but I hope we're not that dumb.
Campbell is worthless. Haynesworth, who used to be great, is now questionable. And
without the number 1 pick, we don’t get Bradford either. The only thing I’d like here would be if the Skins traded us a good waterboy for Carriker and Null.
-1 for Shanahan's smarter than our guys.
IMHO, you have seen a good job done for a short period of time, my friend. I appreciate that Shanny is great coach and the Rams were 1-15, but our GM has done pretty well so far.

I'm generally and optimist, but the proof will be if we win some games this season.
Fraley, Robbins, Diggs, Feeley, etc. Suddenly I ain’t so comfortable with our rocket scientists in the FO.
The important issue
is not whether we win more games this year, it’s how many we win beginning in 2012. I would rather give up some wins in 2010 if it leads to the playoffs in 2012 and after. I want to see us back on top, not just somewhere in the middle and “competitive”.
Spags/Devaney will not be with us if we don’t win games until 2012. We will have to show major improvement in 2010 and in 2011 for them to keep their jobs. If you don’t think so, look at NFL history (Juron, Zorn, Mangini, Edwards, Green, Mora x2, Nolan, Linehan, Tice and so on…) They all had around 3 years to turn it around or they were gone. So keep saying, great job on those dinosaur free agents and "let’s build with the draft only". It simply can not be done that way with a cap, otherwise it would have been. The last team to do it mainly through the draft was Dallas of the late 80’s, with the Walker trade.
you have to progress slowly
you can’t fill out the roster with studs in a season. They are signing some solid vets that can be locker room guys and stop gap solutions til’ devaney can get the players he wants in the draft. Next offseason should be when we start worrying about just a bunch of vet signings. When we are some what competitive next year and we have a QB in place thats when you start going for the marshalls and the boldins and the peppers

Let's look at Devaney's performance so far
One of his first moves was to get a talented young Center, the position that typically captains your O-ine.
He spend his highest picks on arguably 2 of the most important spots on both side so fthe ball, LT and MLB. You know he has his eye on the next 2 in line, DT and QB.
Laurinaitis was off the chain in his rookie year, #4 in the NFL in solo tackles. That’s a big time hit. JSmith played very well (and hard) until the cuncussion.
No big mistakes, his worst pick may have been Null with a 6th, but that grade is still an incomplete since the coaches admitted they didn’t prepare Null to play
No outlandish contracts as we go into another round of very high picks, they can afford them all and then still have $$ to fill holes. Reasonable backups acquired.
Too soon to grade Devaney below anyone, IMHO.

Coach, you asked.
1) New Veteran QB- Bulger gone first thing.
2) LT
3) DE (Pass Rushing)
4) DL
5) Rookie QB
6) #1 WR
7) MLB
8) CB (X 2)
9) OL (best avail)
10) RB
11) WLB
12) TE
13) SS, FS (best avail)
This is how I would have prioritized the Rams needs.
wtf so ur saying we shoulda kept him?
that makes no sense with the contract he had
he fits wat we need but he… is freaking expensive

If you are talking about Bulger,
then he said Bulger should be gone and we should get a new veteran QB. At least that’s how I read Everett’s post.
oo i thought he was saying bulger being gone was a mistake

Good list
I am assuming you are “Starting From Zero”.
It’s really not that far from mine, with a couple of exceptions. I would put MLB higher since they typically “QB your D”, but I think you have a lot of good priorities.
So to grade Devaney, you have to ask yourself did he invest appropriately by priority? (Keeping in mind the realities of value vs. who is available, for both draft and FA) My own answer is Devaney has done quite well.

Why does everyone keep throwing Null into these trade talks.
I don’t think he has any trade values and I think we’re the only team that may value him.
As a recent immigrant...
to Sam Bradford nation, it scares me how much sense this deal makes because if it actually were to happen, we’d likely lose Sam and end up with Claussen because it would make a lot of sense for Washington to take SB, sit him behind McNabb and grab an OT in next year’s draft.
Here’s the only reason I don’t think this trade will happen: rumored trades almost never take place. It’s the deals and trades that you never hear about before hand that usually take place.
I noticed that too
I don’t know if there was never anything to start with or, what is seems like, is that they don’t want to make the trade after it has been rumored for some reason. I think most of the ones involving us had nothing to begin with other than, “hey, he’d be a good fit there, let’s start a rumor.” I think we have been the most rumored team to not make a trade.
