2010 NFL Draft: Notice something unusual? Round 3 open thread
The St. Louis Rams made their first pick in the third round and the draft continues. Some names still available in the middle of the third round: DE Everson Griffen, RB Jonathan Dwyer...QB Colt McCoy. Why have these players fallen?

Dunlap was taken in round 2...

We have to protect Bradford. Right? I agree with you but I guess we have to get 3 OT's in 3 years to protect this guy. Doesn't make sense to me....
On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.
-- Lou Holtz
The OT was a good pick.
Barron is not what the Rams need. He will be a good replacement. Our line will finally be able to protect our expensive first round pick.

a TE over a OT?
an OT at a higher value seemed to be the better pick than a TE. i understand that an OT is not a flashy or sexy pick, but really, a TE?

Pitta, Hernandez or Dickerson in the 4th?
We need a scoring threat and someone to take a pass at some point, please. We may have missed the boat on defense, so we had better try something else.
Everson Griffen is still on the board. That's crazy.

Have you noticed that every single USC player was overrated by the media?
If they played for a lesser school like Mizzou they would all be more accurately ranked.
Lol.
Now that’s comical.
In any case, Everson fell because of a questionable work ethic/maturity.
This isn’t a strong USC class, but with these three ripping it up last season:
They’re anything but overrated (minus the DUI of course).
We’re going to get a steal tomorrow with Griffen. Unless we deal for a DE (Osi) by tomorrow, we’re taking The Freak.
We should be happy. Questionable work ethic or not, this guy was projected in round 1 on many boards and that kind of talent can’t be passed up in round 4.

Believe me.
I was never in favor of taking Everson Griffen in Round 2. But at 4? We’ve got to don’t we?
At 6’3", 275, running a 4.59? Yeah, this class is kind of weak for ‘SC, but this is a steal unless we trade out. Like I’ve said before, he’s got Dwight Freeney potential and maybe this slight kicks him into gear. He isn’t a bad dude by any means, he’s just kind of a goofball (I had classes with him).

I feel the same way about him.
I never got all the hype but he’s got to be the best player at a big position of need for us. Although, I wouldn’t mind if we took Muckelroy instead though. Who knows, at this rate he could even fall to the fifth round (I know he won’t). Maybe James Wyche, Sean Conover, CJ Ah You or Victor Adeyanju will become stars this year.
We'll see.
Early morning tomorrow! Dammit. 7 AM here on the WC.

I don't think Spags and Devaney are ok with Griffen's head
Just doesn’t seem to be their type….although they did say they’d be willing to go further out on the Pillars, Everson’s problem is an effort thing, not really the same

Don't even start Coach. :P
By the way, Carolina snagged a steal today.

Tell me they look normal!
= o
I like USC as much as the next guy…really….and acknowledging Clausen is mighty fair of you

I just love his "f-you" attitude. I think it gives him an edge.
And this slight is probably going to push him pretty hard. I just remember the only reason the Irish were in the game against ‘SC last year was because of Clausen. Kid’s got heart and I hope he takes this experience and lets him fuel him.
And no, they don’t look normal! That’s why Everson’s nickname is “The Freak.” Lol.
(By the way, there is NO way we could have known, but with Clausen falling to R.2, we could have had Suh and Clausen in this draft. Hmm. Moot point, we’ve got our man and we’ve got to get going.)

Confirmed
Clausen says his fall is “definitely going to be in the back of my mind every single time I step on the field”. I know it would me too. I’m just that way.
Stop bitching.

I know you asked JK but here is quote from NFLCom analysis
“Griffen is a good football player that doesn’t always play with great intensity or consistent effort which may hurt his 2010 draft status”
Stephen Williams from Toledo or Denario Alexander are my 6th or later WR choices
But I still don’t think we should draft one before the 6th round.
Holy Shit!
A fellow Stephen Williams fan! Dude has sick measurables but doesn’t seem to get any love. I always thought we could get him in the 7th. Maybe we still can. He’s my ultimate sleeper.
griffen
has to be the pick, he is by far the best still left
don't think he will get drafted by rams
his effort is not there, which does not fit with teh rams anymore. Cincy will probably draft him.

I think
we’ll get a TE in round 4 and try to trade for Osi with our 5th round picks. If not Osi I could see a Running Back or a Linebacker with the fifth round picks or possibly a Defensive End.
te
leaves a bad taste in my mouth. i wanted us to get RG so freaking bad. he is way better than an olineman that cant pass block. please give us a playmaker on the dline
The O-lineman that can't pass block only gave up 1 sack at LT last year
before you rip a guy….

Dude....
Trust the team. Devaney did a hell of a job last year. He’s doing the same this year. I understand you are a Suh fan but you can’t keep negative trolling.

not terrible at all
Murphy is exactly what Spags is looking for in a CB

Our first pick is not only great but the correct pick as well
Our second pick i would have liked the TE Gronkowski and not the OT and since 3 was CB i hope this is a WR at 4 RB,TE
COME ON BILLY WHAT ARE YOU DOING
Devaney and Spags were saying some interesting things
on their radio interviews. When the interviewer was asking them about some of the guys who were dropping, they said we have to remember they have much more information on the players than ever sees the light of day. They implied there were real problems with some of the guys that are getting bypassed, but they weren’t free to divulge it.
On TV the ESPN guys did talk about Sergio Kindall. They said his knee has never been right since it was hurt and he may need microfracture treatment in the future. That’s why he fell so far. There are all kinds of things we don’t know about, but that the teams have managed to dig out during all their work. I’m wondering if Gronkowski’s back might not fit in the category.
