2010 NFL Draft: Rams likely to trade 33rd pick
I would be surprised if we stayed at 33
That's St. Louis Rams GM Billy Devaney going so far as to all but guarantee the Rams will make a deal with the 33rd pick, the first pick of the second round.
That's not a huge surprise. What will be a pleasant surprise is to see just what exactly the Rams can get in return for that pick.
For an inexact comparison, the Vikings traded the 30th pick to the Lions for a second and seventh rounder, along with swapping spots in the fourth round.

this extra time between rounds
is really paying off for us, and the fact that their our QBs still on the board.
For Billy to boldly say “we are trading the pick” sounds like the FO has offers already that would be acceptable even if no further opportunities arise ( which they will). #33 has now become just a bidding war for Claussen and may the best team win. Most importantly, we get what we need to make it worhwhile
My life's unique distinction is being one of the very few who bought (and suffered through) Rams season tickets in Anaheim from '86 to '94. Boy, I miss those days.

If the Rams do trade their 33rd overall pick
I sure hope they get a better deal then they did for Adam Carriker. I thought that deal stunk to high heaven. I’ve been behind Devaney & Spags from the start but I thought that deal was a mistake. Not the idea of trading Carriker but accepting so little for him. Maybe they knew something about him that I didn’t.
Go Rams!
"We can't run. We can't pass. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't kick. Other than that, we're just not a very good football team right now." --- Bruce Coslett, New York Jets Head Coach circa 1990s
how about that he was a bout to get beat out
by a one dimensional street free agent, and he is oft injured.
I thought moving up almost an entire round for a 3rd stringer coming off injury wasn't too bad
The bright side of it is if they do get a DT, you’ll forget all about Carriker and be looking for the new guy to give us something better.
It would sound better if they could say they gave a 6th and got a 5th, but I think they’re just a spot or two away from that, weren’t they? Maybe I’m wrong about that. If the Rams do draft a DT, which seems likely, Carriker would be looking at fighting for the 4th DT spot, so I couldn’t expect another team would give up too much for that player.

Witherspoon got taken so now Navorro Bowman, OLB, Penn State
He is a gem OLB fit our defense perfectly
There are 4 teams with more than one pick in the second...
Do you all think it is possible that the Rams could get all of someone’s seconds in exchange for just the 33rd pick? (e.g., would the Chiefs give us the 36th and the 50th for 33?)
that would be great
but I think the best we could get is a 3rd and even I think we could need to give up our 6th or 7th

12 teams said to have
contacted the Rams about the 33rd pick
Its the Holy Triumverate, my friends
Whether we liked the pick at 1 or not, it wasn’t really a surprise. And the value of 33 and the time teams had to think about it…we knew this too, right?
Someone will see a fallen 1st round talent sitting there and the thing is, for at least a couple of teams, he also fills a need. That’s the Holy Triumverate of Value + Need + Buzz that the pick will give your fans.
They can’t not try and trade for him. Pretty predictable, and pretty great for the Rams.
