Pre-draft open thread

It's time, people.  In just a couple hours, the entire NFL will yet again welcome a flood of youthful talent into the arms of many a fan base only to be reviled years later when all the things that signal a prospects potential remain just signals and potential.

Feel free to drop any rumors or discussions or comments or questions or Olivia Munn pictures here.  And if you come across something as you scour these wonderful Interwebtubes, please drop a link so everyone can, as we say in the Army, maintain situational awareness.

This should be a fun day...

NYT’s Fifth Down blog is talking about busted QB picks

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill!  i’m resigned that we’re taking bradford, even though it scares me to death. I’m hopefull of a trade still, so all of our eggs aren’t in this one basket.

Don't forget we have

AJ Feely & Null who can play for him. lol.

I feel the same way: I’m not 100% sold on Bradford being the right QB for us. I think Clausen would be better suited for us. But I have faith in our FO so we will see. This is just like Christmas!!!

Someone I really hope goes in the 1st round?

Indiana’s OT Rodger Saffold. As reported by the NFP (who recently partnered with SBN), Saffold’s stock has been rising as of late, and should a team take him late tonight, it leaves us more options at 2-1 (as in round 2, pick 1).

For my school, that’s digital logic. My circuits right now is inductance, first order circuits, initial conditions. It’s not overly hard, just a lot of remembering certain conditions.

But I’m definitely not looking forward to Electromagnetic Fields and Materials next fall.

I’d love to see the Rams take Sean Lee (LB Penn State). If we can grab him at the beginning of the 3rd round it would be awesome. He would be a nice fit to play outside of Laurenitis

it’s a VERY thin year for ILBs, so teams looking for an impact player at the position are hamstrung.

Has she become the unofficial mascot/cheerleader of TST?

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

that's exactly

what I was about to ask…

If so

we need a mention on her TV show, or an interview…or a photo shoot

As much of a worry as it was

That we didn’t have anyone signed before the draft i’m loving it now! So many options and no sense of an anti-climax!

Interesting story about how picks are decided upon, and the many contradicting voices that go into it

Bradford trade?

Since it’s looking like Bradford will be the pick and possible trade to Skins, Browns, or ??
Since FA pool should be larger in 2011 do you take picks in 2011 as part of the package for Bradford?

by rlf707 on Apr 22, 2010 3:47 PM CDT reply actions

do it rams

if the trade is with skins, it should be for players. ex. haynesworth, campbell plus the skins rd 1 pick
if the trade is with the browns, they have lots of picks in top 100. plus, the rams could get a QB of the future in clausen with the browns rd 1 pick

by mcihaelT on Apr 22, 2010 3:49 PM CDT up reply actions

makes sense

maybe the rams, if that is a realistic scenario. should first have cle draft clausen before announcing the deal

Colt McCoy = Danny Wuerful with better wheels

That was my buddy’s (UT fan and alum) response to me when I told him to reassure me that Colt would be a stud in the NFL – in case the Rams went with him in the 2nd.

Obviously – that inspires zero confidence in me. On the bright side he said that Colt is a great guy so he won’t be playing grab ass with any chick at a bar…..

I just told my boss I have can't stay at work any longer.

He asked, “Why”.
I said, “I have an eye problem and can’t see myself missing the first round of the draft”.

From the link I posted above
The number of players on the final board varies. San Francisco usually posts 220 names on the wall; Atlanta typically has fewer than 100. Each prospect is assigned a magnetic card, which details his height, weight, Wonderlic score, overall grade and position within the team’s system.
The card also features stickers that designate intangibles, coded differently by each team. The Patriots, for example, use lowercase and capital letters: “C” stands for circumstance — if, say, a receiver’s stats are down because he played with a lousy quarterback; “c” represents a character concern. Other teams add some levity to the process. The 49ers post a picture of Bill Clinton to signify character questions, a green leaf for drug issues and a red cross for injury problems.
