Random Ramsdom: 4/12/2010
- First off, Sando takes a look at the average draft position for pro bowlers. Not a bad to chart to take a look at, if you have the time.
- Jim Thomas takes a look at how to evaluate a QB.
- Will over at Ramsherd has some deadlines to look at. Coming up first is Stan Kroenke's decision on what to do with that teeny-tiny 40% ownership of the Rams.
- Jeff over at Ramsgab takes a look at some of the past QB's that played for the Rams. Tony Banks who?
- Could the Browns be interested in moving up? how does the 7th, 38th, 85th and 92nd picks look for #1?

7th, 38th, 85th, 92nd.....
in a heartbeat.
Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid.

6 picks in the 1st 3 rounds
I’ll snap their arm off for that deal; Clausen plus 12 other picks.
That said, can you imagine trying to come up with a Rams mock draft with 6 picks in the 1st 3 rounds and 13 picks overall!
in a heart beat
which is why Cleveland probably wouldn’t do it.
Florio is typically delusional in that article, particularly where he tries to get into Holmgren’s thought process and motivations. I can’t even read that rag anymore.

Really good stuff in the links today
Love Sando’s chart showing average draft position for pro bowlers. Also love the Rams have spent high picks on the positions this chart indicates they needed to be spent, OT and LB. Confirmation of what I already knew (and have been trying to let others know).
Also love hearing Spags and Devaney actually reveal some of their thinking behind what’s important in choosing a QB.
Devaney: To me, the physical skills are almost the easy part now (in evaluating) these kids. There’s so much that goes into being a quarterback in the NFL. The work ethic that you have to have. The leadership. The time that you put in. The media scrutiny. If you can’t handle all that stuff, you’re going to have a hard time performing on the field.
Spagnuolo: The teams that have been successful lately, it seems to me they have those leadership-type guys. Guys that can get the job done in a pinch. Certainly you want all the other things that go with (playing quarterback) — a guy that can throw the football, all the physical qualities. But leadership to me is really important at that position.
Detroit Coach Jim Schwartz: Does the team believe in this quarterback’s ability to win? If you can’t cross that hurdle, it doesn’t matter how strong his arm is, or how smart he is, or how fast he is or any of those other things. He’s the leader of the team, and if a team doesn’t have confidence in that player, then you’re never going to get anywhere with him.
Thanks ram_rod for tracking these down for us. Really good stuff.
