Leonard Little to visit Saints on Thursday

The world champion New Orleans Saints have scheduled a visit with St. Louis Rams DE Leonard Little for Thursday.

Little is an unrestricted free agent. The Rams reportedly have some interest in retaining their long-time DE as a rotational, pass rushing specialist. The 35-year-old Little had 6.5 sacks last year.

The Rams are thin on talent at DE right now.

Keep Little and/or James Hall or not, for me, finding a starting caliber DE is a top priority for the Rams.

I've always thought it was an option in the 2nd round

This isn’t a great DE draft, though, in terms of immediate prospect depth, so it’s going to be tough to find a gem in this crowd.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

there are those late-first round type guys

that could be there at #33, since there’s enough talent in this draft to make those late first and early second round picks hard to separate.

what about Wootton? You could even have Dunlap fall, maybe, that far.

No on Dunlap

Takes off way too many plays. We don’t need another Alex Barron on defense.

With the signing of Robbins...

…the DT rotation is looking like Clifton Ryan, Gary Gibson, Fred Robbins and Darrell Scott. With the likelihood that Leonard Little and James Hall are not coming back, could it be that Spags might be looking at the possibility of a DE rotation with Chris Long, Adam Carriker, Victor Adeyanju and C.J. Ah You?

Of course some talent is still available in the draft but we don’t know if the Rams FO is leaning towards offense or defense.

carriker profiles well b/c

he can play DE or DT…though how well remains to be seen.

he did look alright getting some snaps at DE under Haslett, i seem to recall

Yes he did...

…I recall the Rams coaching staff caught a little flak for moving him to DT..

by NachoD on Mar 10, 2010 12:52 AM CST up reply actions

I like you're thinking...

… if the FO is leaning towards defense then maybe we can grab Weatherspoon with pick #33 if he’s still there? I still think we should resign Little as a pure pass-rusher though – he’s still got enough in the tank for another season. Sign him to a 2 year deal and let him retire a Ram

Trade with Redskins!

Now that is a trade that would be better for the Rams. The Rams should inquire about Andre Carter and Jason Campbell. Andre Carter has 11 sacks last season and played at a probowl level. I bet if the Rams traded thier first rounder or switched first rounds and threw in a 2nd they could get Jason Campbell, Andre Carter and Carlos Rogers in a trade.

Is this a Chris Draft reference?

Leonard Little

The Rams need to resign this guy. I’m not just saying this due to I’m a fan.

Look at the Rams “D”……. If I’m correct, Leonard Little still leads in Sacks.

We need this player. Sign a 2 yrs deal and then let him go!

i say resign him for the 2 and then let him go sounds great, i really hope the front office doesn’t screw this draft up this time

If practice makes perfect....
Yet nobodies perfect.....
Then why practice ???

Greg Ellis

we should go after this guy, he can help our D tremendously………..Raider let him go today

Jake Locker in 2011

Wait till the draft!

Julius Peppers, Tyler Brayton, Aaron Kampman, Marcus Spears? Nah, we will wait til the draft and fill 21 positions with the 9 kids that we pick up in the draft. Blows my mind that everything I see is, wait until the draft. If we are lucky statistically we may get 3 starters out of the draft. Then what? All but 3 of the same guys take the field as last year? Oh wait we may lose our two best defensive starters too. Hmmm…..Someone find my rose colored glasses please!

"We may lose out two best defensive starters."

Oh, really? Who do you have in mind as our two best? Are we somehow going to lose JL?

by andyrose on Mar 9, 2010 3:56 PM CST up reply actions

Two best starters, thats what I said.

I agree Laurinaitis had a good year but I have to see him for at least another year before I anoint him as the best player on our defense. Otogwe and Little have been doing it for years and offer a lot of leadership and “been there, done that” experience in the locker room. Now with that being said, Little is getting older and if re-signed we need to get a rookie or young guy under him ASAP. I feel that the longer a draft pick or young player can sit or play sparingly with tutelage from a “big brother” the quicker he will be ready to take the field.
