Eagles to release Witherspoon
The Eagles will release former St. Louis Rams OLB Will Witherspoon in the coming days, according to this report, rather than pay him the $5 million in salary he's due in 2010. This would be a nice pick up for the Rams, who traded him during the season for WR Brandon Gibson. Not necessarily to guarantee the starting WLB job, but it would definitely bolster the LBers.
Check out this stat from that same article about Gibson:
Gibson had 34 receptions for 348 yards and a touchdown in eight games with the Rams. Over the last eight weeks of the season, no rookie had more receptions than Gibson. Michael Crabtree also had 34, and Jeremy Maclin had 30.
Potential win-win?

yes
witherspoon is a decent WLB that can add some much needed depth at the right price.
Gibson imo wil become a very good possession receiver, just needs some time in the system and good chem. with the QB. Too many times him and Bulger were not on the same page
Absolutely. Its already a Win-
Just having the promising young Gibson still on our roster and looking to carve out a role for himself is the first half of the Win-Win.
Forgot about that pick we got! Definitely we won on this one. Will the doomsdayers on this site please take note????
From listening to some people around here, the Ram’s management can’t do anything right. I’m sure this will be ignored by them, but for me it looks like minor genius.

Hmm...
I’m not sure everyone is particularly on a doomsday course, it’s just that we were spoiled last season with a franchise Center, a damn good safety, and a resigning of one of our better defensive players.
This season, we seem to be alienating our best defensive player (sorry, I can’t give it to James with just one season, as good as it was), and we’ve only signed AJ Feeley, who would be a backup to Marc Bulger as of right now. Probably a better backup than Marc Bulger, but I was hoping we would land one of the big names that seem all but gone.
That said, this post demonstrates that Devaney is prone to making great decisions that seem poor or at least questionable at the time. I was shocked when Will was traded, but I was pleased we got an extra pick and a solid young prospect out of it, and now he’s free and possibly available after half a season. That decision was questionable at the time, but it’s working out quite well.
Maybe in this case it’s the same. Maybe Devaney realizes that shelling out the dough we have in this FA class isn’t the smartest idea. I’ll trust that.

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
rumors
where do you get your rumor information i cant find anything
I've read that Little might go to Carolina
but not Spoon. Then again, he did previously play for Carolina, so maybe that’s the connection.

Here
Rotoworld says:
Panthers beat writer Steve Reed thinks the Panthers could have some interest in bringing back free agent LB Will Witherspoon if the price is right.
Witherspoon could replace recently released strong-side LB Na’il Diggs, even though Spoon played the MIKE and WILL spots for the Eagles and Rams in 2009. He played his first four seasons in the league with the Panthers and may want to return “home.” It’s not an ideal fit position-wise.
Gibson's ok, but...
who else were the Rams going to throw to late in the season with Robinson and Burton on IR and Avery hurt some too? Stonehands McMichael, Fells, Ruvell….yecch! But don’t worry, we sure didn’t make an offseason play for Anquan Boldin…
I hope you really
aren’t convinced that Arizona would have let Boldin come to a division rival.
That would be like us trading SJax to Seattle for their 2nd and 3rd round pick. You don’t make division rivals better…
Ever hear of a guy named Wendell Tyler? Great RB that played for us in 1980 Superbowl. Two years later he won it with the 49ers.
First of all he wasn't that great
He only have 3 1000 yard rushing seasons and second of all I’m not sure if we traded him to the Niners. But if it was free agency that’s different.
He played in 2 superbowls because we let him go to the fortyniners
at a time whenthe forty niners brought in deBartolo to work a magic act on their roster. You gotta admit that DeBartolo got lucky with adding the genius and some draft picks to build that monster. Tyler just went along for the ride.
