Which scenario sounds good to you?
A lot of people have different ideas on how they would like to see our defensive line and quarterback woes handled this offseason. With the talk of drafting Sam Bradford or Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy, trading for Donovan McNabb, waiting for Jake Locker next year by keeping Marc Bulger for one more run or taking a QB in the later rounds like Tony Pike, Dan Lefevour among others. Which route would you prefer the Rams take:

Bradford vs. Locker
Maybe this should be the question instead of Bradford vs. Suh. Now I don’t follow college football that close but I hear a lot of talk that if Locker had come out this year he would have been the highest graded QB. Is Jake Locker that much better than Sam Bradford? We’re still early in the rebuilding process for this team and we aren’t going to fill all of the holes this year so why not look at this over the next 2 years instead of trying to do everything this year. If Locker is better than Bradford then we could have Locker and Suh for the 2011 season. Let’s pick up Lefevour/Pike this year, either one of them would make a much better backup than Null or Feeley. And build the OL.

clausen
is better prospect than bradford. alex smith or aaron rodgers.
How does Clausen compare with Locker?
I’m hoping the Seachickens pick up Colt McCoy so he and Suh can be reaquainted twice a year.
Let him take solace in the small victories… That is what we are building on here….

Yup.
Though I will say he is more ready to start RIGHT now. I just think he hit his ceiling already.

Take a picture of this so we can come back to it and laugh at its silliness
That that guy, who is widely considered at least the 2nd best QB in the draft this year, and is not even a rookie yet, has already hit his ceiling.
This will look so ludicrous in a couple years, you’ll wonder what your own self was smokin when you said it.
Dude, I'm giving him props for what he's done so far...
…but I meant it as, a lot of QBs that run Pro systems don’t really have much higher ceilings because they’ve already been exposed to the kind of offenses they run in league, at which point they either maintain the elite level of play they had in college (impressive because they’re now doing it in the pro game) like Carson Palmer in his first years, or they show that they peaked in college but couldn’t quite get it done in the NFL because of faster more complex defenses (Matt Leinart, Alex Smith).
So in my opinion, and yes, I have seen many of Clausen’s games/highlight films, Clausen seems to fall into the latter category. That however, is a prediction. As is your opinion in the matter. It is fair to say that some players peak in college. It’s all hindsight of course, but in reality NO ONE, neither you nor myself, can predict how well a player’s college success is going to transfer to the NFL.
I acknowledge that he’s talented, but there’s no way to know whether that talent will transfer anymore than there is for a guy like Suh (which I think we should take) or Bradford.
I WILL take a picture. If my statement turns out to be silly, then we can both laugh at it.
HOWEVER, I think you’re displaying an inordinate amount of confidence and “no way he can bust” belief in Clausen. Because, as you said, he’s not even a rookie yet, which means that the amount of confidence you have in him is as ludicrous a prediction, at this point, as my belief that he’s hit his ceiling. I said he’s more likely to start NOW than even Bradford, but that I don’t believe he’ll be much better than a solid starter in the league. Sorry, that’s the vibe I get from watching the tape/games.
If I’m wrong, then I’ll gladly swallow those words and laugh at my statements. But there’s just no way either of us knows RIGHT NOW how the guy will pan out when it’s all said and done. All we have are opinions, opinions that will be right or wrong in 3 years.

I never said "no way he can bust" and have repeatedly said it usually takes about 5 years to find out. But
I dont think as many high draft pick QBs have peaked in college as you do. Do you have.something to support that claim?
Most of what you wrote are things things I’ve consistantly said on here, I really don’t know you’re talking like I need to be told them. You seem to not know the position I have on these things.

That statement
and that comparison are straight from Walter Football. I disagree with it.
I like Clausen and would like to trade down to 3 if possible, but not if the Seahawks are threatening to take him....
If the Seahawks are going to draft a QB, which I think is likely, a trade down might be really risky.
My first choice of all is to trade with the Bucs and selecting Clausen #3 and get a pick or two extra, one of which being spent on a top Tight End.
If I thought the Seahawks were going to try to swing a trade to jump past the Rams at #3, and take Clausen themselves, then I’d consider just sign him before the draft. (Obviously if Seattle wanted Bradford then it would matter as Clausen would still be there)
If Seattle makes the trade for Marshall,
they will have to give up their first round #6 pick to Denver. That will pretty much take them out of the QB derby the first day.
If they go into the draft with no 1, then..
it’s more likely If I would not think the Seahawks were going to try to swing a trade to jump past the Rams at #3. But the scenario I talked about is based on me (as Devaney) thinking they are trying to do that

I still like trading down..
If we go down to number three even if the SeaChickens move up to 2, we are still guaranteed to pick up either Bradford, Clausen, Suh or McCoy. 2 of those guys will still be on the board and we will be paying them number 3 pick money instead of number one pick money and also be gaining an additional pick or two. I’d say it’s a win-win situation worth taking a gamble on…
I really don't know why people call Leinart a bust
or that he is not good. The guy is solid. He got beaten out by a future Hall of Fame gun slinger. He has actually looked good last pre-season and when he did get some time on the field, he did ok. We gotta stop ripping the guy or he is going to haunt us in the future.
I'm confident enough
to say Leinart will not “haunt” us in the future. Anyone else?
Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
