Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Cromartie to New York...

It was reported today that Antonio Cromartie has been traded to the New York Jets for a 2011 3rd rounder or possibly a 2nd rounder based on how Cromartie does, how many games he plays and how the New York Jets do this next season.

Why don't my Ram's land a deal like this?  One of those "how the hell did that happen?  Why didn't my team do that?" Trades.  Well the rich get richer.

The crappy thing is that I was thinking about this the other day and my thought was "why don't we offer them a 3rd next year and maybe our 6th this year?"  and today the football gods throw this in my face...

I would of liked to see a set of Cromartie, Bartel, and Fletcher.  Would have offered nice flexibility for match-ups.

Oh well...on to Free Agency and the draft.

Have to give it to the Jets

They seem to have a way of working magic with those conditional future picks.

Hell of a defense they got goin' on in New York.

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.

Funny you say that because I was thinking the same thing. It’s so fustrating to hear all these good teams picking up even more talen while the Rams seem to either pick up marginal talent or just do absolutely nothing at all. In the state that the organization is in I would hope that we can land a solid starter on defense or a #1 WR like Boldin (he’s worth the 3rd round pick) The draft and free agency need to create some kind of energy and excitement for the Rams. For one they need to put Rams fans back in the seats of the dome rather than the opposing teams fans and they have to give us something to look forward to for next season. I don’t expect miracles so I’m not asking for a trip to the playoffs. I just want to have a sense that the Rams are improving and heading in the right direction. It’s sad to say but I would feel an immense amount of joy with a 6-7 win season. It would show a considerable amount of improvement and keep us from being the doormat of the NFL

I know it seems frustrating...

but it is just the nature of free agency that the rich get richer. When you give a player an option of where they might like to play, don’t you think they want to play for a winning team that has been successful? How many players do you think are even interested in picking up the phone when a team that has won 6 games in 3 years calls?

The Rams best hope for free agency is to salvage some older vet that has been released after some disappointing play (like Lito Shepperd) or to land a young guy that never quite got to make his name with his previous team, but that the scouting department was high on (like when we made a move for Gibson in Philly). Thats my take on it.

It's funny you should say that...

I think that if the rams win 6-7 games it would DEFINITELY be an improvement considering we won 6 games in 3 seasons!!! And as far as filling the seats with rams fans I totally agree! I drove up to st Louis from Dallas to watch my first ever NFL game of the rams against colts and the whole stadium was filled with colts fans! I thought I was Indianapolis!

No place for envy here.

The Jets are already a playoff team. They were a win away from the Superbowl and Cromartie might help them get over the hump. Being a playoff team, their picks have less value.

No point for us to make that kind of deal

So, you're saying that you

would not give up next years 3rd rounder (NOT THIS YEAR) for Cromartie???

This was a loing time coming

Earlier in the year they were exploring Nnamdi Asomugha but were almost charged with tampering. This move didn’t just materialize during free agency, they have been trying to acquire a top CB for months.
